Hi my lovelies hope you are all well and keeping safe. Well the appointment went well as can be I guess. The Idacio seems to be working and I am not waking up stiff for more than an hour so my consultant said that my arthritis is not active yey. However there is swelling on my hands and my last ultrasound showed wear and tear of the bones and some bone spurs. However the x-ray did not show anything. I know I have some pain in the joints still but it is better than it was. I just hope the biologic works longer than 6 months and if not they want to add methotrexate to the mix. Has anyone had arthritis not being active and does it come back? My hands are the issue at the moment as they hurt so much and even though I feel better I didn't want to complain that there was pain in the knees and elbows. Anyway hope you are all looking forward to Christmas and whatever that may be for you all I hope you manage to enjoy it. x

Hospital appointment update
That’s a brilliant Christmas present.😁when I was first diagnosed and started methotrexate after 6 months I was in remission and living a normal active life 10 months later worse than before diagnosis and over 2 years later only just getting back on my feet.
Your getting better focus on that and enjoy feeling human again... happy Christmas 🎄😁xx
Thank you sweetheart. I am happy but worried about my hands as they are so swollen so I don't think my arthritis is not active. It is active just not in flare up mode. How are you doing?
I’m trying not to get too excited.. baricitnib seems to make a difference. Now week 3 and overall improvement especially the fatigue and brain fog , still having some niggles.
Had to have a covid test yesterday as spent Sunday / Monday coughing with a temperature, breathless and headaches but all clear. Cough going now and temperature gone still have headaches. Goodness knows how I picked up a bug with a mask and a face shield and children kept at arms length. Hope it’s the baricitnib working and not a false security.. been there 🤞xx
To be honest this virus can hit you anytime and anywhere. Even if wearing a mask. Its scary. Hope you feel better soon. When do you break up? I have three days left yey.
So, I have just restarted Methotrexate on top of a cocktail of other drugs and the swelling in my hands and morning stiffness have gone. All I am saying is that we are all different but it might be worth giving MTX a try if it is offered to you. I believe it also helps the biologics to work better although no one seems quite sure why
You will obviously look all this up on the NRAS website but hoped this might help.
Thank you for your message. I will see how I get on but woke up in agony this morning so me and my big mouth saying I am okay to the consultant yesterday. I jinxed it
I am on a biologic but when saw my consultant my hands were swollen and was in agony with knees, hips and back. He added Methotrexate which I accepted reluctantly. 5 doses in am glad I did as hands not swollen and pain reduced so I am able to sleep. Have it by injection as I have IBS, and so far no side effects. Touch wood. So, if suggested methotrexate is worth a go.
