Unreported side effects of RA drugs........

Well, maybe not unreported, but not reported often enough.

Over the last ten years I have ben on 5 different RA drugs, now only on two. The side effects of all of them was that they made me better and/or helped me to get back control over my life and self manage. So thank you Pharma Companies for producing them. Thank you Consultants for prescribing them. And thank you NHS for funding them. I like these side effects a lot.

Well said and totally agree. We have been lucky and let’s hope others on their RA journeys are/will be too.

Hear, hear! A good point beautifully made. It's all too easy to see just the negative aspects of RA medications.

Hear hear from me too! I love reading positive posts such as yours stbernhard. Positive side effects (& thanks) are rarely given. Big Pharma (I so dislike that term) is most often blamed for the meds they put so much work into (& I know they received plenty in return but they are in business after all) so it's good to hear just the opposite. 🙂

Can I add that I've always had great care, kind, supportive and knowledgeable doctors and nurses and in these very strange times I understand why things are so difficult.

That's a lovely post stbernhard, thanks for sharing it and yes, it's true, where would we be without them. x

Absolutely with acceptance & patience there is a drug there for everyone...it’s just a shame it takes some so long to find it.

Hahaha you are right. People always report the bad side effects associated with the drugs because they worry about them but rarely say how great they are when they work well. Good post and a good point.

What a lovely post and I can’t agree more. I honestly count my blessings daily for the ongoing care I receive from some many health and social care agencies to allow me to be as well as possible and be as independent as possible. 😊

Very pleased to hear drugs have worked well for you with few nasty side effects. Not the case for everyone sadly 😟 Good to hear a positive story though. 😁

Agree with everything you say stbernhard, we are so lucky that we have medication to help us these days, it must have been hell for people in days gone by. Hope you stay well.

That is so encouraging. Just what needed to hear this morning as I’m at a betwixt and between stage with my second and third drugs. You’re right: the difference between medication and no medication is startling. I gain about twenty years when I have none and lose them once I get medication. That’s got to be worth celebrating and giving thanks for.

Really good post, sometimes we have to be patient but our Rheumatologists do their very best to support us and give us the best possible life.

How wonderful it will be when a test is developed so the best drugs can be determined without it just being trial and error.

I believe we're just a few years away from on individual targeted drugs.
