Curious swelling/pain

Good morning all,

I hope you are holding up well. I recently started MTX 15mg and Hydroxy (almost 3 weeks ago).

It’s been a whirlwind of unpleasant side effects and feeling generally overwhelmed however something that seems a little strange is some swelling and pain that has come up on my right shin over last 4 days? I haven’t knocked it, there’s no obvious marks but it’s really uncomfortable!! I’m not being a wimp either, I like to think we tolerate pain quite well don’t we!?

Has anyone else had anything like this, just seemed odd...

Sorry to hear you're suffering

I can't specifically comment on the swelling on your shin, but I do know that my symptoms continued getting worse for several weeks after starting on mtx and it would have been quite easy to assume it was a reaction to the drugs rather than the RA continuing its progression until the mtx finally began to get it under control...

Fortunately, in my case, it proved to be the latter, and hopefully the same will be true for you too, but of course, never a bad idea to check with your medics if you're at all unsure x

Thank you so much cass24, I do have an appt mid November where I will mention it if it continues but in the meantime I was puzzled to be honest. It seems the symptoms seem ever changing.

This disease really knows how to muck us about and everybody’s different which makes it even harder to control xxx
