Flare ups and temperatures

Does anyone else notice they get a temperature when going through a flare? My specialist nurse told me this morning that arthritis does not cause low grade fevers. However I only started getting a temp last week once I started to flare in shoulders. Shoulders were red and warm to touch. I'm cold during the day but temp is 37.8 in evenings? I don't feel ill in any other way so I just assumed it was the flare up causing it.

Yes I get temperatures and sweating during flares, every time !! People lose weight and can get dehydrated. So drink plenty of water .

But you do have to be careful as you are more prone to infections on your treatments , so check that it is not an infection that is the cause of your temperature rising. I regularly got urine infections buy that seems to have stopped now . The other thing you are often checked for is hidden TB before you start some treatments , dont know if you got checked before you started.

Good luck , chat with GP as they are more knowledgeable about these things x

Starting imraldi injections next month so got tested for tb a few weeks back. I think it's just the flare causing the temperatures, I just couldn't believe my nurse told me that arthritis doesn't cause them so I just thought I'll ask about other people's experiences.

But what sort of arthritis? As osteoarthritis that has damaged a joint doesn’t cause a temperature (otherwise I would have one all the time!).

A low grade fever is a common symptom of active RA, so really not sure what the nurse was on about.

Me either to be honest which is why I asked on here. She knows I have psoriatic arthritis.

It definitely can cause low grade temperatures like you’re describing. I’m the same. Drink loads of water and keep an eye on things if it starts going above 38, speak to your GP.
