Good morning everyone.

Feeling a bit like I’m 100 years old. I think this quiet life has taken its toll on me. Not nipping here and there. Didn’t realise just how much I was doing in every day life before lockdown.

Anyway, I looked up free exercise videos online and there it was. Good old NHS. There are plenty for us poor chaps. From beginner Pilates or yoga even from a wheelchair. I watched the beginner aerobics class for about 5 minutes and it does look quite challenging but when you’re at home, the instructor can’t see you so you can modify to suit your own level.

There are quite a lot of different classes to choose from.

I’m hopeless at sending links but easy to find if anyone is interested. I was as stiff as a board last night and I didn’t like it. Gotta do something.

Some of my friends have been paying for online classes. Not being mean but if the NHS are going to help for free ......

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but thought I’d share even if only one person finds this useful it will have been worth mentioning.

X

I've been doing Joe Wicks for seniors. I'm only 38 but anything that helps, although it can be tough on joints.

Have been doing chair based dance/ exercise as I used to love dancing and have found a way of motivating myself and enjoying it too.

I used to love dancing as well Pippy even well into our marriage i would dance around the house. I think RA ruined that.xxx

It's lovely to hear of your love for dancing sylvi and that you enjoyed dancing and even around the house too. I used to love salsa, meringue and Latin American and went to classes with my friend each week. While having RD for over 18 years it's only I would say in the last five plus years RD stopped me in my tracks from doing it. So to do a bit of chair based Zumba or similar feels uplifting. There are so many I found on the Internet sites and you can watch them and decide which you feel able to achieve but mainly enjoy. Take care xx

I used to line dancing and it was my knees which stopped me doing that. Xxx

Same here with the knees, in particular the right one is a mess and walking is hard enough these days. x

Well done for motivating yourself, how do you do that! I used to do ballroom and latin when about age 10 then took it up again in my 20's for a while. Could always do the old time dances at functions etc. Miss it really, not thought about that for ages.

I was the same I went to ballroom classes/ Latin classes briefly as a child, I did country Dancing too at junior school. Then apart from the odd dance at a wedding or 'do', I didn't take it up again until in my 30's and I love it and made a good and now dear friend in the process. I bet you could still remember the dance moves when the music is on as I found it easy to pick up after all those years. Happy times hey. xx

Definitely. I'll have to have a look at some chair based ones. Shame you're not nearer we could do together at a distance.

I've actually been able to do more exercise not less - there has been time to extend my yoga practice in the morning, do more gardening, and more walking. I will be reluctant to go back to the number of things that I do that involve long periods of sitting but, on the other hand, they do involve doing it with other people which I do miss...

I did the nhs one too and found them tough , I would also recommend another group I found online ,( I'm not involved in the group financially ) . I got some classes free then signed to pay for three months.

They are called team body project . The first free ones are on YouTube.

It's a married couple who are really fun and inspiring and it's great if you have bad joints as its low impact but you are shown how to step up the moves if you are fitter. They do chair exercise on chairs too in one section. You think you are doing nothing but gosh you are.

Good luck with your exercise , it really helps even though it's hard!!
