Feet and RA

I think my feet though been zinging away with small issues are now starting to let me know how the are doing in RA world. They are very crunchy and seem tender. Bending of toes (well trying too) now sends pain down the sides of the feet. Ankles bones also tender too.

Just keeps on giving.

Oh yes, loves to travel around the body - we never know where it going to land on any given day or for how long. My right ankle was so bad on Thursday I could have taken a hammer to it - got up Friday it was better. I give up. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Yesterday I wante to smash my wrists today they have calmed down! I get it.

Bloody RD and feet!! I think this is the worst for me . Standing ,walking ,sitting ,sleeping are all effected. Your gait and stride my feet were so stiff that my toes lifted if the floor and I walked on the back of my heals it has a knock on effect through the whole body. Shoes and slippers I’ve bought them all I’ve had orthotics made. Last year ( I know I’ve said this so often) was horrendous feet and ankles wise and I still have niggles( or I’ve just got use to them). I bought a heated shiatsu massager that helps as does cold water soaks. For everyone finding what helps is individual. After 14 months for me this is what works.

30 mins Before I get out of bed I take paracetamol ( it was cocodamol I’m improving) and a strong nsaid eg naproxen. I can then move without pain. I also found wearing compression socks made a huge difference. I wear athletic socks they are padded on the soul and heal and compression is all over feet ankles right up to my knees. ( don’t sweat I these ones)They really have made a difference for me.

You have my sympathy Dee bloody awful when feet play up ( any extra weight gain doesn’t help and no chance of loosing it if you can’t walk)

athletic socks ok good one to try! I love bare feet I pad around all day like this if I could and I know I need to do something!

Bare feet unfortunately really is no with RA. Like you love it but I’m so much worse without support. After things settled down for me I can now walk in my support socks no slippers or shoes even managed to stand on tip toes yesterday can’t remember last time .. years ago I think 💭

Snap! My feet have been hurting more in the last day or two although not in the same way as yours. In my case it may be partly due to wearing flip flops and not my shoes with orthotics. I’ve lichen planus spots on my feet and proper shoes irritate them.

I’ve no advice to offer Deeb other than to put your feet up today!

My feet aren't too bad but slightly swollen and tender at the sides just below the little toe so I can't wear anything that presses on there including my usual slippers. They also stiffen up if I sit in one position for too long. I've started wearing really thick padded slipper socks and they're lovely 😍 I'm hoping that once the warm weather comes I'll be able to wear open sandals although I might need to get some with comfy padded insoles.

Yes RD is generous with it's little and big gifts it brings....although I normally love receiving gifts and nice surprises, these are ones I would dearly decline or send back any day. At the moment I am suffering with my legs, feet and hands. I'm hobbling round first thing and what with this and my flowing locks, I feel short of a black cape, black cat and broom of late! Seriously though I think for me it's a combination of the changing pressure in the weather (I don't do heat/ humidity with my joints), Prior to this virus I was getting some strange blood tests results which seem to have fallen along the wayside now as no more testing at the moment and I know my right leg (mainly the knee) is all messed up with RD and OA. I'm not getting despite trying as much movement as I would normally by having to shield, so I think this is why my body is all at odds. So I hear you Dee, nothing worse than your feet oh and hands being affected and hope you can find something that will help ease things for you. Take care x

Thanks, but at the moment I am waiting to have a total review of things in general and am not on meds other than pain relief, and Vit D too long winded to go into as to why but was in the process of sorting out my health and whole situation when COVID made an appearance....so everything is at a standstill I'm afraid.

My feet and ankles use to be dire 😩 I would cry. Over the years better for which I am grateful. I found Birkenstock sandals I wear indoors instead of slippers a Godsend. Hope you improve soon.
