We all share something here and weve all eventually accepted that we have arthritis of some sort. In the beginning when i told people i had RA they said yeh i get a sore thumb when its raining too! or no that cant be thats only for old folk. there can be so much misunderstanding. i know you will all have had theses comments. what im feeling today amidst all this caos is that if i accept whats happening we will cope better abit like coping with a disease. we cope we keep going and if theres one thing ive learned that in adversity we have to be positive. what choice do we have in anything really xx deep thoughts lol thought id share -
im really trying trying to get into this mindset !!

As with most things, the longer you have something the more it becomes routine. It's no different with RD really. We just develop a new normality to cope.
That's something you may consider using Jenn, RD, if people are thinking you have arthritis, usually Osteoarthritis is the come-back, that they have it too. Many of us use Rheumatoid Disease nowadays, even my last Rheumy & her team did. It does work, losing the arthritis tag, that's not to be disparaging of the pain OA can cause, I have both so can attest to that, it's that they are two entirely different conditions or disease with a common name, which is why it's not helpful & why there are those who prefer to use RD.
thanks i will start to use that term - your so right you know when all of the pain settled for me it felt strange not to be in pain. dont get me wrong a bonus but it doesent half make you feel glad when you can walk again. i tried to run but i regretted that! not going to happen for me
Thank you for your advice - i am doing ok today - hope you are well
Acceptance has helped me immensely Jenn, through RD and through cancer and now this new threat from Covid 19..... so I completely agree with your sentiments here. Doesn’t mean I don’t worry but helps me see that some things just are beyond my control! xx
A good point about acceptance and some good replies. I think NMH saying the longer we do something the more we get used to it. Its like our RD, trying to get our heads around an ever changing situation. I have to say my Mary Poppins bag of coping skills is getting used regularly at the moment as I dig deep into it for inspiration.
yeh life is peaks a troughs and i did expect it through out life. this is a huge thing were all facing. i think we will be stronger from this. look at the war veterans ! it feels like were not alone though were seeing the good in people. i think the news tonight is now showing the reality and that is how we wake people up. im going to work tomorrow and my daughter will go to a hubb for key workers. i suppose we need to have faith if we believe we can do this and then we will. i actually prayed today - im not religious but there is something about being spiritual that is really comforting. we dont appreciate the beautiful sky all that we have. how lucky we are really xx
