Living with a high risk person

Hi every one I have a question about our situation living with others. My 14yr old daughter stopped school on Friday. My husband is working. So on Thursday a colleague went off work with a more persistant cough after having a bit of a cough for a couple of weeks. This man also has asthma. On Thursday I had a call from my Rheumatology nurse to say my last blood test showed platelets and white blood cells had dipped below the right levels. So hold off on my injection and get another blood test.

I have been more anxious because of my bloods and my husband still being in work. He hasn't been able to work from home. So today Monday he has gone to work and talked to his boss about my health situation. He was worried about losing his job if he stayed at home. He has now arranged to take the rest of this week off... I think this will be classed as holiday. The colleague with the cough is off work now.

What have other people done to protect themselves living with a family member who is still out working? He is using all the guidelines himself over hygiene as am I and our daughter.

Is there any information on having to stop work if a family member is at risk? He shouldn't have to take it as holiday time should he?

My husband spoke to his colleague earlier who says he is feeling a bit better now... He was talking about getting a few things from work if he now has to be off.... He should be self isolating shouldn't he?

I spoke to an nhs worker earlier to ask about guidlines... He said the advice for vulnerable people to stay with friends or family if a person in your home gets sick is to quote 'insane' for obvious reasons.

Thank you

There will be letters going out this week to those at high risk and they will be told to totally isolate themselves I think. There will be guidelines on what this means but in the meantime have a look at this chart.

Thank you that is very helpful. I am on the biologic Tocilizumab, have well controlled disease and no comorbidities. Just the blood test result so until I hear from the nurse about my new results I will be more careful for now. What's your situation? 😊

I’m on mtx. a biologic and hydroxy with no comorbidities so am in the moderate. I have been practically self isolating to reduce risk the past week but will probably carry on with that rather than enhanced social distancing, no point taking more risks than I have to x
