Keeping mentally well during this difficult time

I think we need some happiness in our lives right now. I have been trying to think of ways to help us all mentally. The sadness and worry will drag us down if we let it. We are stronger than that. Here are a few tips for making a brighter day:

1. Spring is in front of us and the weather is slowly becoming warmer and the days getting longer. If you have a garden look at the tiny shoots and leaves coming out, ignore the aftermath of winter. If you don't ask someone to get you some seeds to grow healthy salad leaves on your windowsill. They appear in no time.

2. We have to keep up to date with vital information in the news. Watch it once a day on a reliable channel and ignore the rest.

3. Listen to your favourite music, close your eyes and concentrate on the music only, ignore anything else.

4. Don't watch sad or depressing programmes on television. Watch funny or uplifting programmes.

6. We have a few weeks until we are past the peak of the virus. Look forward to late summer when we can get back to some normality.

7. Don't buy newspapers. Too much fake news. Buy puzzle books instead.

8 If you are able set up Skype or a what's app group with your family and friends so you don't feel so lonely when isolating.

I hope these few tips help in a small way. Maybe we could post a nice, uplifting story each day or make someone smile. I am as much in need of positivity as the next person and feel the heavy weight of worry but I have made a positive decision to kick it into touch.
