Reply from NRAS on work and biologics

I emailed NRAS about work and biologics. They confirmed I am a higher risk but at this moment can find no information or policy on this subject at present. Suggested I contact Gp and see if they can give me a fit note but as I’m not ill it’s rather a grey area.

Hope this helps others in a similar position

Thanks for this..but nothing new until we get update from the official sources. There’s the PHE site also..I’m waiting for guidance from my union too regarding my work situation.

Last week, before everyone received authorization to telework, I emailed my doctor expressing concern about coming into contact with so many people during my commute to work, and at work. I was concerned because I take both methotrexate and Enbrel. My doctor emailed me back with a letter right away, which I presented to my employer and they allowed me to begin teleworking immediately.

The letter says:

Owing to your underlying autoimmune disease I am recommending that you be permitted to tele-work during this period of heightened COVID19 risk.

COVID19 is a coronavirus which is spread through droplets when people cough. There is no vaccine and currently no effective treatment for this virus. We recommend you do not travel. We recommend hand washing, use of alcohol hand sanitizer and using alcohol or bleach to sanitize surfaces. If you develop a cough, respiratory illness or fever you should go to the ER for testing.

Lucky you having an understanding GP. Mine said take precautions wash your hands. Said I work with reception children impossible to keep washing my hands.Difficult up to you I haven’t been issued any guidelines sorry can’t help
