That’s a bit lengthy, any summary please? 😊

It’s actually very compact and easy read. Just take one thing at a time what interests you. Very hard to squeeze the broad info into a small package to give a comprehensive picture.

I'm in no way medical but some of this article does need clarification I quote "In the January 2013 issue of Thyroid,

authors reported that chronic kidney disease (CKD) is greatly improved when the subclinical hypothyroid state is treated with thyroid supple- mentation. These researchers followed for two years 113 subjects with CKD who supplemented with L-thyroxine. The scientists measured their eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate, the best measurement of kidney filtration and func- tion). They found the improvement to be very significant. (The decline rate of eGFR improved from -4.31 to -1.08 mL/min/year/1.73 m2.)"

CKD comprises of a number of conditions so do you know which one or two were studied?

I have CKD and been taking L Thyroxine for over 20 years and no improvement so wondering if its a specific type of CKD.

Hello medway-lady,

cannot help you on this specific study, however a normal thyroid function is essential for Ckd and there are an abundance of things that help the system to work. Here is research that may be useful concerning the treatment of CKD with bicarbonate.
