Hi, I had an updating ultrasound scan today of my hands and wrists.
2 queries; if my RD is not currently active (according to my the radiologist) why are my hands and feet so bloody painful and when he that he can see chronic changes what did he mean. I asked him but he said I’d need to speak to the consultant for more feedback!!

It suggests that there is no current inflammation of the synovium - the bit that goes round the joint - but that your previous bouts of inflammation have caused damage to the joint itself. This may be classed as erosions (where the bone has been eaten away in small patches) or osteoarthritis (where extra bone formation distorts and limits the joint function) depending on the type of damage, but can still cause pain. Discuss it with your medical team and what can be done to relieve the pain.
