Shoes and boots its that time again

I know we have all covered this but oh its such a pain when you think the new boots are doing well and then 3 weeks later it goes to pot.

Here we go again!

My house looks like a shoe department 😁 I often change shoe or boots 2/3 times a day 🥺🙄

I agree with you. I found some really good ones from M&S have bought 3 pairs over the previous years and they've fitted perfectly and been the only ones that haven't caused me gip.

Trouble is my wonky left foot means the left boot always ends up leaking over time.

Have tried some Hotters ones this year so hoping they're okay. I have worn them round the house for a month and so far so good.... but don't know what I'll do when a big feet day comes (It better not rain so I can wear my M&S ones).

I go round with insoles in my pocket at what I term 'big foot' days... wear them in the shoe in the morning take them out when big feet at the end of the day. Can't think of another solution as too heavy to carry different footwear around as my shoulders then ache.

But one year I had so much pain couldn't find anything that didn't blister after a while and ended up taking antibiotics for infected blisters and 20 pairs of shoes I couldn't wear.

People in my NRAS group have had footwear made by the hospital... I tried to get a referral, but at the moment have found two pairs that fit (asked family members with bigger feet to wear them to stretch them).

I've been wearing Oboz ladies walking shoes which have been great. They are wide fitting and come with their own removable insoles. A little expensive but I've spent so much money on shoes which I can't then wear !

going to look those up and Clarks unstructured need good ones for work walking and just life that I dont want to throw at a wall every day!

It can be a very expensive practice buying footwear! Timberland have been my latest purchase but I need support around my ankles as well as considering my feet. They’ve taken a little getting used to being high & so supportive but think they'll be more comfy as I wear them in. I got a bargain on eBay from a footwear shop, an extra 15% off secured my purchase! I made sure I could return them foc as I wasn’t too sure on sizing as my last Timberlands I wore out years ago & were more of a shoe. Either way what may suit me may not suit you but I've been fortunate in sizing, usually I’d go to a shop to try on to check but our local stockist only sell men’s hence why I made sure I could return/exchange them.

I hope you find some, RD & shoes/boots are a bind.

I’m currently wading through bank accounts to locate purchase details of 7 pairs of ‘ecco’ shoes as the composition sole of one of the last purchased black lace-ups with perfect leather uppers crumbled in chunks at the heel a couple of weeks ago .....😥 I’d not worn them since RhA diagnosis - April 2016 - relying on leather open-toed Clarks sandals with slightly raised heels summers and winters since. I thought it was time to resume walking exercise as my calf muscles are wasting and my left ankle had fused without surgical intervention many years ago.

The soles of an identical well-worn pair bought in 2003 reman intact, as are all others bought before and since whether worn or unworn.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

have ecco too but need something which I can slip on but stay on too! But looking at a few this week as 3 pairs in a month or so and still struggling.

Have you been seen by orthotics Deeb? Might be worth it before spending lots of money 😊

I've been referred to orthotics but it sounds like it will be a long time to get an appointment through ☹️

I suppose as usual it depends on your hospital, it didn’t take long for my appointment to come through. I hope you don’t have to wait too long JFlay 😔

I wear a lot of hotter shoes (for work / when generally outside ) - mostly their Whisper boots . Have 2 pairs and lots of extra insoles .

However , I managed to buy some Sketchers memory foam boots at Sports Direct last year . They aren’t stylish and look like workman boots - but they are such a life saver . Your feet can sink deep and nice and the foam is like a soft pillow . Walking isn’t a pain anymore and I wear it to work as well . I’d rather be comfortable and not in pain than fashionable 😝

Hi Deeb I’ve got every make going they all work for a while. Fitflop do some good boots (waterproof) free returns but its going to be trial and error.... good luck 😉

I buy ankle boots half a size larger with a side zip so I can get them on most days ,the zip holds them on so I don’t get too much movement or sliding so as to avoid blisters. Can only wear flat ones with a wide fitting.

Clarks Trigenic Poppy boots are my go to at the mo. They are sooo light n flexible . The downside is they are pull ons , so tricky on the fingers and wrists without a shoe horn . But the elasticated panels are good for ankles. They look good with a skirt too. Might be worth a look :)

oooh going to try these out thank you

Discovered in the flooded car park yesterday that my trusty 20 year old hush puppy boots won't keep out the water any longer. I've been dreading having v to look for a new pair 🤔
