A little MTX fog has been hitting

Wow up by 5mg this week and brain fog has kicked in! Struggling with fog I have to say and thanking my little stars that I have to work FRi only then 2 days off as I think I am feeling the need for lots of sleep.

Feel like I am not getting enough water down me either which is odd as I am normally really good about water. Not queasy thank goodness and not many side effects apart from fog but this is enough to have right now.

The brain fog did wear off for me after a few weeks, I found not only drinking water but eating carbs helped too.

Just hit a carb fest moment funnily enough!

Just buying fitness stuff skip rope , kettle bell and yoga mat to make sure I get myself controlled with food and exercise and swimming again too. Slowly though on every level.

Deeb2908, do take care of your joints and get some professional advice before using gym equipment, you could do some serious damage.

Gentle exercise is great, but heavy stuff, like kettle bells are not recommended unless your RD is well controlled and you have used things like this before.

Walking, gentle swimming (if you can do it, I can't), tai chi , gentle resistance training are all great. A specialist rheumatology physio can guide you. Most gym staff do nif have sufficient knowledge, so do take care.

I would leave the kettle bells for a while, you need to be well controlled and are unlikely to be so if you have just started on MTX. As said professional advice might be useful.

The stories you read of people with RD running marathons, doing parachut jumps, undertaking heavy duty physical training are unusual, most certainly not the norm. Even yoga and pilates can cause damage if you are not well controlled.

I would not start exercising too much until you are stable for a while . You haven’t been on methotrexate long and are still not on your required dose. Your brain fog might be a sign your RA is active. I get this with no pain or stiffness and I classify this as a flare.if it was me i would stick to walking for now and when everything is settled then slowly add other exercises some might trigger your RA it’s all a learning curve.

Oh I remember that, for me it got worse the higher the dose and I had the nausea. It never eased, for 2-3 days each week I had it... it eventually led to depression, probably because I was unable to function for 3 days each week.

However, I know a number of people who take Mtx., and are absolutely fine on it.

So, I hope that it does ease for you, that it works for you and if not that you find the one that does.

I hope the higher dose you are taking helps you and will not wear you out too much. My dose was increased by 5 mg too and it took a while to adjust. Keep in contact with your rheumatology team as they may reduce it if it is not agreeing with you .

thank you Mmmr said same thing so being good¬
