Moving house with benepali Injections

I have searched online high and low & am surprised not to be able to find anything about refrigeration of benepali injections. Lots about travelling with it, but Healthcare At Home & information leaflets already cover this.

My concern is not for one injection you might be due to use next, (like next week travelling hours by train to see family, will just take one injection & use it) but a whole box or more in the fridge. People move home all the time, so am puzzled that I cant find info easily on this?? Help please.

Can you not get a bigger cool pack for them or am I not understanding the problem? I am going to be moving and that’s what I planned to do 😊 you’ve got me thinking maybe I shouldn’t now 😧

I have a cool bag that takes a box of Enbrel - 4 pens. And it keeps to 4 degrees for 24 hours. I never get more than 4 injections at a time, so that works fine for me. Do you get more than 4?

This is the sort of thing I have (and my wonderful pharmacy gave it to me for free!)

Or you could try to organise deliveries so you only take a couple with you and get your next delivery after you’ve moved?

That’s what I have. Didn’t get it for free though. It’s great!

That looks ideal!

If I eventually get well enough, I would love to travel from the UK to Thailand where my eldest lives and works. I had not seen them (two grandsons, miss them all so much) for two years when they came back for a visit this summer.

It is two long flights plus of course layover/delay times and travel to and from airports st either end; add another three hours for both as we know you have to be there a couple of hours before departure..

All too much at present! But I’m hoping maybe by early 2020. 🙂

2 cool packs? They can stay out of the fridge for a month my nurse told me. But, they must be used within that time otherwise they’re useless.

Personally, I’d buy a couple of cool packs as they’ll arrive next day on Amazon and that’s one thing less to worry about.

How long do they have to be out of the fridge?

I am not moving yet but do have injections kept refrigerated. Guess we have to be careful they won’t get above the recommended temp, and endure they are not frozen by a cool pack straight out of the freezer too...

Good luck finding an answer!

The gel packs in my cool bag are a combination pack. One side, that you put closest to the drugs, goes in the fridge. The other side you freeze, and then snap them together to go onto the bag.

Enbrel can be kept at room temperature for 4 weeks, other drugs between 10 and 14 days. But when travelling I put my Enbrel in the bag so doesn’t get too hot.
