Success.

Mostly good news, regarding my PIP application.

Both awards given and both at enhanced rates for ten years.

The only drawback is they don't come into effect until October 11th.

Many thanks to those who responded to my queries. :)

Good news.

Do you know why you have to wait until Oct ?

dembonesDAMNBONES profile image
dembonesDAMNBONES in reply to Mmrr

Thanks @Mmrr

I have absolutely no idea why the wait.

I can only guess they've decided to pay me one last instalment of DLA, which is due tomorrow anyway, saving themselves paying the enhanced rates of PIP, then counting the following three weeks as arrears, instead of their usual four weeks.

I've had a bad flare for last two days and again today, so will go to CAB, when possible and find out, in case it's a new policy they've implimented, so I can let others know.

Also two letters from ESA today.

One notifying me my payments will be increasing on 6th Sept and the other inviting me to apply for a third benefit called Severe Disability Premium.

Just lucky, Hidden

Everyone, on the sayso of their Rheumy and GP, should be entitled, but the govt is directly opposed to this, as we know too well, forgetting it's place, so those less fortunate lose out.

It will be backdated from the time they received the application form.Great news.

Cheers gradyjackjacob

They haven't given me any indication of backdating yet.

Maybe that's in the pipeline.

Great, you should get it backdated to date of assessment, I think. Just check the letter of award for start date and for review date, if any. :-)

Thanks charisma

No mention of backdating in the letter...just start date, Oct and ressessment, 2029.

There was a decision recently to stop reassessments for pensioners with chronic diseases. But can we trust that? It is all a bit fuzzy still.

I just read a bit on rules: if already getting DLA and changing to PIP, first payment of PIP starts from the day after DLA stops. Otherwise it is backdated to when you applied.

Rudd gave her word, so, no, we can't trust her or anyone in Wastemonster.

Having said that, many of her political opponents, knowing she had a parent reliant on the DWP, could, in fact, destroy her career, should she backtrack, however, it hasn't stopped them lying or tearing up agreements in the past.

Me, I'll be more inclined to start believing it, if the next fifty applicants on this site vet the same period of grace just given to me.

It goes without saying, I hope they do and are indicators of what we can optimistically expect from here onwards!

Ah, that'll explain it.

A friend thought they might backdate the increase from DLA to PIP.

Personally, I didn't give the idea any credence.

great news just wish we could hear this more often. To many people having to jump through hoops ha ha if only we could jump.

Unfortunately, govt always does it's best with the systems set up for us to use them against us.

I've entered the picture at a point where it's slightly possible they may be changing their views.

I'd have said they might be having a change of heart, but we know they lack compassion and have, twice, in the last three years, been called out by the UN for their inhumane treatment towards those on those partly or wholely dependent on benefits.

Careful now if we are seen to be jumping let alone through hoops they may just shift the goal posts, I say jokingly. Their assessment may read 'can be seen regularly jumping and through hoops'....oops!

I guess they took all four definite and one possible conditions into consideration or maybe my case was dealt with by a human being with a beating heart. Lol.

Just to add to the backdating part, I didn’t get any backdated payment from my assessment date it just changed over from DLA to PIP seamlessly 🙁

Dear dembonesDAMNBONES,

Fist of all, what a 'Name'....secondly, and I say this from experience, just because you have a Settlement/ Judgement for Ten years DON'T expect that 'They' won't re-asses you EVERY year! As regards waiting until October...at least it's ONLY October!

Did you have to go to Court, over this dsDS? I did!, Even then 'They' tried to Withhold Payment...It was only after I, or more correctly my Mother, Threatened to take 'EVERYTHING' Back To Court that they relented. Yes you DID read that right.

Hopefully 'They' won't- let me be 'Polite' here- Muck You About, once you DO get your Payments. I now live in 'Supported Living', which does often 'Help' me- this often allows a 'Plus One' on bus Journeys, Visits to 'Attractions' and so forth. I can also use a scheme called 'Dial A Ride', for free- though you DO need to book this, some time, in advance.

Still 'Chin Up', no feeling 'Blue'....Red, Purple, Magenta, Green, Yellow or Pink YES but NOT Blue!

A little joke....A man wants to 'Dodge' paying a Bus fair. To this 'Ends' he puts a leash onto, his pet Dachshund, and goes to board the bus. "Excuse me Sir" says the Driver "but aren't Guide Dogs normally Labradors" Quick as a flash, the man replies "Why, what sort have 'They' given me then?" (this joke also works well, for Sausage Dogs, Basset Hounds and Corgis.)

I have Twaddled On, quite enough now, especially as it's 1am now 🙈

Kindest wishes

AndrewT
