First day off

The only problem of not working is that the first day i am off my body does melt down and just wants to be still and either sleep or just be in a chair. This is so not me so needing to find a hobby. I messaged my Mum and she still has a sewing machine. I used to love sewing I decided I might do some funny meme RA cushions as my first idea.

However the I am 'copying' someone elses description is my bones feel like they have stuck to the muscles so arm movememnt a bit limited today!

Out goes sewing day out goes gardening.

I hope that restriction is temporary.

I realised recently that having been frustrated by inability to sketch/doodle/knit/sew/garden/hike/read... everything I love... I have been ‘painting’ myself with different coloured clothing! Creativity finds an outlet but I deliberately curbed that, too expensive lol

Don't exhaust yourself - take it easy if you're having a flare. It must be particularly hard for you if you're a very active person. I'm also having to sit a lot with legs elevated and my hands are not as useful as they were so I have to amuse myself with reading, puzzles and TV at the moment.

(Swollen) fingers crossed we both see an improvement soon!

it is horrible even making cakes or bread which is second nature to me by hand, is a nightmare just trying to find things to do that don't create more pain.

hi i have exactly the same issue soon as weekend comes and no work body goes into limp mode for 48hrs. Also i never used to be like this but have realised that body is working a lot harder now to get through the week and is telling me it needs to recharge.Just getting use to relaxing is'nt easy if you have always been very active but if your body didnt need the rest you would be fine. From where i was 3 years ago im glad i can get through the week now and work as this i feel is the best medicine for me.

It is the most fustrating thing, having to stop doing the things you love.

I love to read, write, bake, knit, cross stitch, gardening and walking. All of these things begin to hurt after a few minutes which has become so depressing. However, my Rheumy sent me to see a hand therapist and although the gloves and splints provide some respite, not much what he did tell me is this: don't stop doing the things you love, find a way round the obstacle and if you can't on the days that you feel strong, well enough go do what you love.

I have had to let go of the gardening, cross stitch and writing. However, i have found a book stand and the kindle useful, mixers for cake baking on the days I feel well enough and I go walking on the days I feel strong and well enough. I hope this helps and I really hope you find joy in your hobbies really soon.
