I wouldn't want to risk it, to be honest. I have heard that some medications do 'go off' but whether arcoxia is one of those I don't know

I have all sorts in a box that is out of date but I take in emergency normally when I had a couple left in a box and hadn't realised . Bit like the Christmas puddings in my cupboard won't kill me but the puddings get better with age , tablets won't but they shouldn't do you any harm as potency diminishes . They say you shouldn't but it's saved my bacon at times xx

My friend works for a pharmaceutical company. She told me drugs may deteriorate over time, they may lose their potency, but they won't do you any harm using after the given date.

I'd personally get In touch with your drug provider. They shouldn't give you out of date drugs. They should swap them. No point in injecting a drug which isn't as effective and flaring

If it's only a year then they should be ok. Some meds can lose their potency the further over their expiry date they are but I wouldn't think so much with Arcoxia (etoricoxib) if only a year past.

Just for info there are some that shouldn't be used once over their expiry date... insulin, biologics, injectable methotrexate, some antibiotics (tetracycline specifically) are some but there are others. Obviously if the tablet is in a blister pack then it's in it's own little cell & less likely have been affected by sunlight & the air but if tablets are crumbly or if the colour has faded (or a white tablet is off white) then common sense says don't take it.

Can I ask, why do you still have meds (Arcoxia) that have expired? Is it that you're no longer prescribed it? If so is it wise to be taking it, just thinking if it's been replaced by something else or you're now prescribed another med that could interact with it. Maybe best to check with your GP or Pharmacist if you're ok taking it, just to be safe. Or, can you ask for a new prescription if it's still on your repeat scripts or your acute meds list? Just a bit concerned.

was perscribed them in case I felt I needed them and n ever used them.However recently because of my bursitis and osteoarthritis have been

perscribed them and have been taking regularly....just found the old ones in the fridge when doing a clear out.....

No need to keep tablets such as Arcoxia in the fridge. As long as they're kept in a cool, dry & dark place most are fine. I keep mine in a drawer. I'd just ask for a repeat script but then I don't have any past their expiry date so would wouldn't I! 😏😊

Ask a pharmacist. Some drugs are dangerous if past their SB date.

as I replied to someone else..they were prescribed for me over a year ago but found didn't need them so they were just there and I found them when doing a clear out. Have now been prescribed again and have been taking.

It was me. I've been thinking, you shouldn't need to be supplementing with the old ones as you've been prescribed them again if you're taking them as per the pharmacy label on the box. I'd just take the new ones, then you're sure you're getting the dose you need.

I’m probably being over cautious...but I consider old drugs differently from yoghurt...which I regularly eat when it’s out of date!
