Unrelated Diagnosis

After a myriad of weird symptoms that do not relate to my RA which is well treated by MTX, my consultant neurologist gave me a diagnosis of poly neuropathy. I asked the treatment and was told that will come when they can identify the cause. I beginning to feel I am too old to give a !!!!

I just spent 18 months and two major ops being pinned together with titanium following a 3 mtr fall down a stone staircase and I am happy to still be with you.

In fact feeling better than ever and not sure if I ever need to go back to try to ID the cause of the Poly 'whatever' I am learning to get used to sudden 'electric shocks' almost anywhere and numbness developing in extremities. Is there anyone else have such but relates it to RA.?

My Consultant Neurologist says its not related..

Ouch! This created shivers in me this morning to read about your fall. That must have been awful for you. ☹️

Has there been any indication the fall may have triggered the polyneuropathy? Whatever the cause, I hope for you that treatment is as effective as your RA med and that you feel better soon.

Hugs

I have peripheral neuritis which causes numbness and, yes, the electric shock type sudden pains. The medical team and the neurologist were a bit vague about the cause - said that it could be related to the Rheumatoid Disease, or the medication that I've had in the last 40 years, or it could just have arrived by itself. No treatment apparently, but to be careful about examining daily the areas affected by the numbness for any injury.
