So I got a new design brief this morning. Designing a new brand logo for RA Biologic injections. How ironic!!! The client was so excited I knew so much about it. x

Who'd have thought?! Which biologic is it? It must make it all the more interesting when you have a personal connection to a brief. You must share a pic once your design has been approved.

Etanercept. Weirdly, and I didn’t know this before this job, but when a drug is first discovered by a lab, they keep the recipe secret and solely are able to sell it under their own name for ten years. After 10 years, they legally have to release the recipe to the world and then anyone can make it and sell it. For example. Paracetamol. It is exactly the same recipe if it’s made by Sainsburys vs boots. So always buy the cheaper one. It is exactly the same. I always tell people not to spend £3.50 buying Nurofen when it’s basically ibuprofen. Which you can buy for 30p.

God actually I might put myself out of a job if I’m not careful. I’m the one designing the high end packaging!! X

Yes, it's when the licence runs out. The originating lab are 'allowed' 10 years to regain the money spent on development of the med the 3 phrases of clinical trials it is given it's licence to treat, very expensive, hugely, so is necessary. They're the sole maker & distributor & how all meds which come to the market work. Once the licence has run out any lab can make a generic version of it, although excipients such as fillers & colours can vary. So, this is for etancercept, we'll start seeing other manufacturers names in the not too distant future.

I never used to buy branded otc meds. Panadol is paracetamol, nothing more so why pay a premium price for the same result from a cheaper generic version? As you say, it's the same with Nurofen, & don't be misguided by those that target specific areas... the don't because they can't, there's no way it can be sent to one part of the body if it says it works say for back pain, only topical gels & creams can do that, it's just another marketing ploy!

Look forward to seeing your results. 😊

How brilliant Jules. You're in a unique position to make a memorable logo. look forward to seeing it on the box. It's all a bit bland at the moment.

I sounded like such a bore. Telling the client exactly how the medication worked and telling them what RA actually feels like really helped. X
