Miserable day today

I’m feeling like crap right now. I volunteer and run a shift at my hospital but we were short handed and I did a lot of runs. Three miles worth. Came home and collapsed.

Before I even started my hands were swollen, knuckles felt like they were busting through my skin. Back, neck and still both Achilles’ tendons.

I don’t want to give up the volunteering.

Don’t know if it’s the changing weather or what.

I’m gonna be down a few days for it but I’ll live with it. No other choice.

I’ve been injecting mtx for a couple of months now but not sure if it’s working. I guess I’ll get more labs tomorrow and see what’s what but I’m not feeling that’s for sure. Also the sulfasalazine for about a year now. Days like this I feel like nothing works.

We have those days too. Listen to your body. If it's tired - rest! Tomorrow is another day. Sending well wishes your way X. p.s - I still have painful, swollen flares. I am taking 4 mg Baracitinib. Think it's the general way of things.

Thank you, Shalf. I’m laying on ice right now.

Sorry you feel rotten. I think sometimes its possible to feel more duty bound volunteering than when doing paid work. The latter has holidays, sick leave etc. When volunteering you might not feel you can let people down and anyway it is important to you. maybe you need to give yourself permission to be off sick sometimes? Hope you feel better soon.

That's the way I think Norisa....I have said I'll fill in if necessary, but I got so stressed worryiing I'd make it through a month if of dates I pulled out....seems to work OK.

You are so right, Norisa. And I was off for a few weeks with the eye surgery so I’m reluctant to let them down because I’m the shift leader. But for right now I’m just laying down with ice. Thanks for letting me whine.

You weren't whining, just saying

I'm getting better at saying "I can't do it, I'm afraid" but it has taken years. I noticed that last week when someone asked me to move some chairs - I just said it - but I STILL felt guilty!

I often think I can do something like that and boy am I sorry after!

I understand you old-timer. This has been my downfall for years!

Oh poor you, I hope you are back home and resting now ?! Don't give up the volunteering if you love it, just try not to do so much (easier said than done !) .

I know the feeling.......today I feel like someone has stabbed in my hamstrings, they are so stiff , and knees and wrists sore, I have either been doing too much, not getting enough sleep or the weather, or a mixture of all. Yesterday I tried to reduce my steroids - not sure if that's the cause or not?! but only reduced by half a tablet ...back up to 2 today. Just to top it off (sorry chaps) its time of the month time too.......I just feel like hibernating - only work wont let me - No leave left !

It’s great I’m not alone but awful that we all suffer! 😞

Hi Nablus

Don’t give up on the MXT yet as already mentioned here it can take up to 12 weeks to kick in, with me I still got improvement up to 5 months, physically I could do so much much more, once I got the full benefit. All the best

I went and got new labs today and no surprise- high inflammation! I just wish it would stop.

Oh you poor thing. Hope things improve for you. Bless you for putting others first. You are a champion. But remember you need to take care of yourself and listen to your body. It does take time for mthtx to work so try and be a bit easier on yourself. Hopefully you will get some relief soon. Take care 🙂🙂
