You would have to do a trial run yourself, I think.

It's generally accepted that people with osteo-arthritis do better in a dry warm climate. But the findings for Rheumatoid seem much more variable. Some people are absolutely certain that they are better - others find no difference or find that the difference is with variations in atmospheric pressure rather than the actual temperature or amount of water in the atmosphere. From personal experience I had one holiday in North Africa when I was much better in the desert, and one when I was much worse...I think there may have other variables like the level of stress and other illnesses!

yeah your right oldtimer, I was worse in summer this summer, its just tempting when its cold wet and damp and your feeling sh-t :O)

Hi there I usually go to South Africa as half my adult children live there and the other half live near me in Surrey!! I lived there myself for 12 years came back in my 40s I developed rheumatoid 7 years later and even ended up hospitalised but I do admit when I travel back to SA I have a brilliant relief from pain, but I normally go J

ohannesburg seems a very health climate, I also go to Cape Town again feel great, but the south coast can be humid and not comfortable, I can't travel to such distances since developing GCA/PMA so we have been going to Spain which I have not stated long enough to say, so if anyone Mentions Spain I'm anxious to know how they feel.

Yes, Wales is very wet. My son has moved there for a slower quiet pace of life. When we visit all I want to do is sleep. The air is so different and scenery is beautiful. My R A doesn't seem to change either way. I can get too hot and too cold with both temperatures not helping. Have a good day and take care xxxx

I live most of the time 3 years in fact in a warm and sunny place but don't really feel any different equally when back in UK similar inflammation etc. Everyone is different I think you would need to try for a while before commiting to anywhere else. Good luck.

I was living in a warmer place when I was diagnosed. It's ok for some of the year but not all, depending on where you choose to live of course.

I wouldn't just take the plunge whether anyone had RD or not. We moved out for 6 months to see if we'd want to stay in the area long term (as opposed to 2 or 3 weeks holiday which is all we'd done before). We didn't sell up & when we decided to make a go of it we arranged for our furniture to be sent over & rented our home out. When we returned after 11 years we had one more mortgage payment then we were mortgage free, renting our home paid for the mortgage plus more as a little nest egg. So if you seriously think of moving to a warmer place really do your homework, it could pay but if you don't settle be sure you can afford to buy where you would like to live in the UK, many expats don't & find they either can't afford to return or have limited funds to purchase property even if they're able to sell their overseas home.

Humidity makes my RA worse. I’m in Florida in the USA and summer is my worst season.

I'd say depends on what you can afford as a few regular holidays somewhere warm might have the same effect. For me I'd say yes, but would leaving behind so many good friends and family etc. means that I'd probably not go. However, I am thinking though that a flat in Marjorca or a Canary Island might be a good idea, just for the prospect of a warm break every couple of months. Its something we discussed on holiday and will be looking into.

As you know V I live in two countries or I did until September. For me it made a huge difference and SA also has four seasons. I think waking up to the sun most days helps

Moved to France, before RA hit. Think it was all the baguettes and croissants that broke the camels back Climate for RA really quite perfect. Lots of sun and low humidity. Finland would have been hard.

we both feel the cold and damp in N Ireland [his home]. I have RA and miss Hants/Dorset weather and London for the Arts but have been here for56 years :[ - as a homeopath i met said ' a difficult transplant' LOL. we watch 'place in the sun' etc but atm our compromise is as many hols as we can, esp winter. so ... canaries dec, back for g'kids , then jan in t'rife, april in majorca. look at for sales but prices say 3, 4, 5 hols when needed are cheaper than buying. Also until brexit 'sorted' - who knows.. look forward to reading other views.
