Thank you for all the help and advice the other evening when my shoulder was in agony.

Well, I had my counsellor appointment on Tuesday and next Monday I take my 1st dose of Methotrexate. I’m keen to get the treatment underway and hopefully suppress this awful disease and get some reprieve from the pain. But I’m also fairly apprehensive. I hate feeling sick 🤢 did many of you get sick on Methotrexate?

Plus my head is buzzing with all the info.....be wary of infections, be careful of taking other meds at the same time, remember metho Monday/ folic Friday, blood tests every 2 weeks. I expect it will all become second nature but at the moment......... well you all know 😐

Don't worry, take it one step at a time. Been taking it for 6 weeks so know what you are feeling. I have been lucky with no real side effects except a couple of 'poor me' melt downs. I take my MTX on a Tuesday evening after dinner and the FA on Wednesday evening after dinner, this works for me and drink plenty of water with the MTX.

Don't panic, you'll be great. Most of the stuff is very manageable and probably what you do already. Handwashing after a loo visit, before preparing food, maybe using a hand sanitiser after pushing a shopping trolley or opening doors of public washrooms and staying away from that idiot who'se come into work sneezing and snuffling everywhere. You could't be more scared than me taking Methotrexate. I swallowed those little tablets and... nothing. You might feel a bit wobbly the day after, perhaps the appetite may be a little effected, who knows? We're all different. It's certainly helped me a lot. Wishing you well

I have been on 15mg mtx for about 18 months now, and can honestly say I haven't suffered any side effects, and you soon get into the routine - I use the alarm feature on my phone to remind me to take my tabs. Likewise, the hand washing and using sanitising gel quickly become second nature, as is avoiding sneezy, sniffy people.

If it helps, it seems that we hear far more about people who do suffer side effects than those who don’t - my understanding is that there are many, many people who get on great with mtx with little or no issues, so fingers crossed that will be you too - good luck!
