This was life pre RA - I want it back! And I am determined to do it again! Always be kind to yourself. A long hard lesson for me. True though!

Nice. Very similar to my used to be local birdwatching patch here in South Wales. I've got lots of photos of my dogs taken there over the years. I only ever owned one at a time though, or should I say they owned me. Always had an English or Irish Setter as my companion.
I am looking for a nice visla puppy or a collie
I wish you well in getting back to that stage darling and look forward to seeing your progress in getting there.xxx
Thank you Sylvi. What a truly uplifting person you are! Wish I could give you a hug and make everything feel better for you. Please stay strong. Xx

Your DH sounds such a wee gem. Bet he loves you to the moon and back. Talking of backs, how are you feeling? Hope your chest is better soon Xx
Hey, Shalf, good morning to you. I saw the lovely photo of you and your dogs, read your positive, determined post and HAD to reply. I too had many dogs (all now buried on the fell, bar the last, whose ashes are in a casket and at home with me) and have countless photos of the miles we walked and the hours we spent up on the fells at home. You photo isn't of part of the Howgills, is it? And then this truly ghastly, bullying, thieving, horrible inflammatory disease took a hold of me and I have problems walking up and down the stairs now, never mind bowling along over hill and dale. BUT...I, like you, refuse to give in and yield. Never. My rheumy people are fantastic, I have orthotic people sorting out custom made insoles for me, and I also still have the real need to get back out there on the fells again. And I will. And I'm sure you will, too. Never give up. Never give in. Sending hugs. Xx
You’ll get there.
Five years ago I could hardly walk 300 yards - I’m good for 10 miles on a good day now 😀
Little by little.
I got myself a Fitbit to measure steps per day. 2000 was almost impossible to start with, but I do a minimum of 10,000 every day now - regularly over 20,000.
I remember being told ‘it might hurt but you aren’t doing any damage’. This spurred me on.
Onwards and upwards! x
WOW! I love your determined spirit! woo hoo! Reading this made me smile and it made me feel better too! I think it's a great mindset to have. To first accept then to just try and be yourself as you were. When I get exhausted, pain in legs etc, I now think and say to myself ' well Suzie, your getting older hen' that makes me feel much better rather than distressing it's the RA that's the pain! The photo was taken on the Pentland Hills. That was a breather on way to top of Scald Law. I also have my girls ashes in a casket at my bedside. It's where they used to sleep! Had every dog bed over the years but they insisted on sleeping on the carpet one at either side of bed. Protecting me - wee souls. Your inspiring me! Keep it up! Hugs to you too Xx
Nice... Best of luck getting that back...
My old tramping ground too. I walked part of the Pentlands most weeks, Capital View being my weekly favourite on my day off, but also the five tops, Swanston village and The Steading for a wee pint afterwards. Those were the days....
Mmrr, I still go to Capital View when I can but don't walk the steep hill. I used to do that hill in a morning and top of Arthur Seat in the afternoon with the dogs! I sometimes wonder if that caused my health problems... Too much but I loved seeing the dogs so happy! Would love to hike that hill again. Yes, Swanston too. Love the white cottages up there X
Shalf, I also did a weekly 'city centre stair bashing' on a Tuesday after work with my waking group...7/8 miles up and down all the old closes and stairs in the old town, proceeded by Calton Hill as a warm up and Jacobs ladder on the way back to the pub ! My quickest time was 2 hrs 5 minutes , starting at the Playhouse, up Calton Hill, across to Arthurs seat , up and down, walk up the first half of the Royal mile , then all stairs and closes up to the castle esplanade. My consultant suggested that the OA I also have was not helped by the weekly assault on the old bones ! As a walker herself, she would never have tackled anything so demanding on the joints...maybe she had a point !
I can hardly walk more than a few hundred yards at the moment, maybe one day.
I managed 45,000 steps in one day.
My word! That takes some doing! I know exactly what they old closes and steps are like. You must have been super fit! I was at the Waverley station not so long ago and I tried up the steps at the old Scotsman. Took me ages and I was knackered! Legs and back ached for days! I want to be fit again. My art teacher is still a walker, see her quite often , she must be in her late eighties now - incredible.
Another fantastic doggy photo! They are a real tonic. Still think you should make them into cards. I would buy them for sure. x
That photo tells a story. They were all enduring the wind. The long haired dog looks hilarious .You were a hiker? I was a walker ...... miss it too. x
you have beautiful photos and I am sure you have loads of beautiful stories, I was thinking about you today, and although you can't do that at the moment, why don't you share your beautiful photos and tales in a book for the world too see, also dog training tips you can share with the world who have dogs and could do with your advice
write a book until your better enough to go and train again
I would love your first copy
