Why am I blocked from replying?

I have made several attempts to reply to a recent post but repeatedly get the message "You don't have the required permissions to perform this action". I appear to be logged in, so what is the problem?

Hi

Have you tried on other threads? If it is just the one thread that's the problem, let me know which one it is (you can always do with by PM to me). It may be that responses have been turned off for that thread. This doesn't happen often, but I will hopefully be able to check whether it's that or if there's another issue that you would need to address with HealthUnlocked.

Kind regards

Victoria

Thanks, Victoria- think it must be my browser on the pc, because it works on the iPad. Appreciate your help.

I'm now going to be a real Smarty Pants.....but when I asked HU support why I couldn't 'like' a post, they said check top right of this page ...above the picture & see if your Benbecula Avatar appears ...if it doesn't you need to sign in to the site!

Don't ask me to explain....but you could give it a try!

I just closed down this site & went back in & my problem had to righted itself.

Many thanks to all who have offered suggestions. I abandoned the desktop pc, where I had been having problems, and just tried again on the iPad: hey presto - it works. Must be something to do with Mozilla Firefox, the browser I was using.

Thanks all,

in defence of Firefox ...mine is ok, but were you trying to 'like' or reply to a post in a different community, eg you are in NRAS but wanted to comment in SLE or something? just a guess here!

Hi, GranAmie,

I was just replying to a recent post on NRAS, though I am also on SLE, bone health and Raynaud s and Scleroderma, since I have the latter two and osteoporosis. One of life’s mysteries I guess.

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I mostly use Firefox on the pc, though still have Internet Explorer as well.

Using the iPad for this though. Best regards,

Yes, sometimes I have been unexpectedly logged out, and sometimes that will explain why something isn't working, as if you are not logged in you would only see what a non-member sees and wouldn't be able to post a comment or see all the posts.

I have to sign in every time on my iPad. Today it keeps coming up with 502 Gateway bad connection, and signs me out, have just go back in. Soo annoying. X

in reply to Gigi71

Do you? Weird as I can log in through the Apple app but prefer to log in using my old blackberry that is still going strong after ten years

Hi Minty, must be my settings on the iPad. I don't use the app. Can get on without signing in with my Samsung android phone, a mini 4, quite old. Even slower than my old iPad though. Will ask a grandchild for help, or try the app. I used to love my old Blackberry. X

in reply to Gigi71

Yes you need a young tee to help you.

My daily phone is my BlackBerry and it still works in this remote part of Devon where the apple has no change. It work d all over Africa and never lost signal

They were great mobiles or in your case still are. Often have to wait for a reply from sister in laws in Cornwall if I text them, till they get a signal. All my family have iPhones, not tempted, too expensive and they are temperamental. Apple annoys me as they are always wanting you to update your devices and slow down the old ones. Can you get whatsapp on your Blackberry ?

in reply to Gigi71

Yes you can get WhatsApp on a BlackBerry if it is the classic or z30, just open in settings to allow other apps, create a gmail account and download play store, if you have say a q5 or passport pm me and I will walk you through it. You can buy new BlackBerry phones such as key1 key 2! And a couple of others that are just touch screen. It depends o. If you want a toy and lots of apps or a functional phone as the key2! Lasts two days battery life. I will not part with mine and only have apple for face time for friends and have noticed BlackBerry are making a comeback. I just get fed up with iCloud as can do same on other phones for free.

All the newer BlackBerry phones run every app that google play store has, no real preference for me just want reliability and to be able to obtain a signal in poor areas

Unfortunately don't have my old one now. Will look at the new Blackberrys when I get another phone. I'm almost sure my eldest son has one as a work phone in the city, must be because it's reliable. I use whatsapp a lot, as free to use when abroad and kept in touch when the said son and family where in Bali on holiday. A granddaughter in Spain for 5 weeks my best friend who now lives in Portugal. I think what suits us best and is reliable. Thx Minty. X

One good thing about the BlackBerry cloud is free and you can always add your own larger data card. I am using mine now to reply

Hi gigi71

I use an iPad and I just keep myself signed in so all I need do is open an email or the website, makes it easy. Maybe tick the box to keep to logged in, and save password. Hope this helps.

in reply to daisychains58

I can do the same on my old dinosaur BlackBerry classic and the iPhone. It would be nice if this site had an Android app on google play

Hi Daisychain. It doesn't make any difference when I tick the box to stay signed in. It must be something to do with my privacy settings. I'm okay with somethings, but sadly not all. Will try to remember to take with me when I see my family this weekend. Thx anyway X

Me too, hence the choice of name. Though, to be perfectly honest I preferred Vatersay, Barra and South Uist. It is the isolation that appeals, though I think the outer reaches are now getting busier. Where to next I wonder?

Tried to reply to you on the pc again, since I was using that at the time, but same problem still. Back to the iPad. Technology is wonderful when it works.

in reply to Benbecula

Oh yes Uist... Heavenly! :-D
