Quinoric

I’ve been taking Quinoric tablets twice a day for 14 weeks and have been suffering with daily stomach cramps . Some days they are very brief and others they bother me on and off all day. I do suffer with IBS and cannot tolerate Lactose. I thought at first it was the Prednisilone that I was taking alongside but I finished taking that 4 weeks ago and it’s not eased up. I also feel very bloated and it hurts to have the waistband of my trousers pressing against me. Has anybody had this problem with this medication?

Hi I've been on hydroxychloroquine for year's no problems until they changed me to quinoric and it absolutely wrecked my stomach. I discovered that this medication has a filler that can give some of us stomach issues, I asked for the Zentiva brand and I was absolutely fine, lots of people have had the same issues and it definitely worked for me. It might be worth asking the chemist for Zentiva, my pharmacy was great and they now get it for me every month and I'm fine again. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. I’ve just picked up my new prescription for the next month and was thinking of visiting my GP to see if he can change it but if you think the pharmacy would do it I’ll try them.

I had the same problem. When I moved house I had to visit my new GP & put in a request for Zentiva. Never had a problem since. Been on it for six yrs now.

No worries, my chemist was really good and knew that the quinoric was affecting some folk so had no issues giving me Zentiva. Hopefully yours will be fine as well, if not ask the Dr to prescribe the new brand, finger crossed you'll feel better soon.

Hi

Some time ago there were a number of posts about Quinoric. A number of us were moved over to this when the manufacturers discontinued Plaquenil. Unfortunately a lot of us suffered stomach problems as the coating on Quinoric was different. NRAS contacted manufacturers and recommended Zentiva. This is far more like the original and I have not had any problems since. It might be worth asking for your prescription to specify Zentiva and give that a try.

I do hope you find some relief.

You’ve been really helpful thank you I’ll see what I can do.

Yep, made me feel sick and gassy all week, gave me itchy rash n kept me awake: couldn’t switch from quinoric brand as only one hospital n gp would do so came off it. Good luck finding another brand if you can x

I have only been taking it for 14 weeks and was hanging on hoping my body would get used to it so it’s helpful to hear what you say. Thank you.

Hi nanabrodie have been on methotrexate for 6 years but rheumy wants a top up rather than higher dose. So now starting quixotic 3 times a week soon up to every day. Hoping upping dose will not be a problem as have had digestion problems for many years. Sorry for your problems I do know how you feel!!
