List of biologics.

Hi I’m looking for a full list of biologics that treat RA. So far I have:

Actemra

Cimzia

Enbrel

Humira

Kineret

Orencia

Remicade

Rituxan

Simpsoni

Am I missing any?

Is rituxan another name for rituximab? Apart from that there are the JAK inhibitors like Xelianz, and Oluminant/barictinab. And new ones in pipeline all the time....

I probably spelled it incorrectly. It’s probably Rituximab.

I'm not sure, but think it's more commonly called Riuxin in US. smack me bum if I'm wrong. The biosimilar for Rituximab is Truxima.

This sounds correct. I notice a few of the same drugs go by different names. I’m in Canada and have most or all the drug names NMH mentioned.

I have discovered that only 3 treat duel RA and Crohns

1.Remicade - ( not helping RA)

2. Humira - ( I’m very allergic)

3. Cimzia- have not tried.

I read up on Xjelganz and it treats RA and Colitis ( but not Crohns) I don’t really understand this new JAK inhibitor of Xjelganz but I do know the Enbrel I was originally on is a TNF blocker and it was brilliant for RA.

This is my list of anti-TNF'S, Biologics & JAK inhibitors Hobbits if it's of any help.

adalimumab: Humira (anti-TNF) - Biosimilar: Amgen (from 16.10.2018 in UK)

etanercept: Enbrel (anti-TNF) - Biosimilar: Benepali & Erelzi

infliximab: Remicade (anti-TNF)

certolizumab pegol: Cimzia (anti-TNF)

golimumab: SimponI (anti-TNF)

rituximab: Mabthera (Biologic) - Biosimilar: Truxima

tocilizumab: RoActemra (Biologic)

abatacept: Orencia (Biologic)

anakinra: Kineret (Biologic)

baricitinib: Olumiant (Janus Kinase Inhibitor/JAK/Jakinib)

tofacitinib: Xeljanz (Janus Kinase Inhibitor/JAK/Jakinib)

Brand names are for the UK I'm afraid.

Hope things are well with you... though I fear not given your question?

Hope it helps. There may be others, I've not looked recently, more which have come to market since I compiled it, plus of course country approval differences, there may be others available in Canada now. It's a start though.

Thank you everyone. NMH thanks I was also wondering the different ways they work, and you info helped.

My Remicade is failing and I want to go armed with knowledge for my Appt. with specialist. I need something that works duel for RA and Crohns as I’m pretty sure they won’t let me take two biologics at once?

Enbrel worked great for my RA , but they took me off it when I got Crohns and put me on Remicade that works for both RA and Crohns. However now Remicade isn’t working for the RA. anymore but pretty good for the Crohns.

Don’t know anything about Jxeljanz gonna go research some.

Sorry to hear Remicade has stopped working for your RD. It must be frustrating it's working for one but not the other. I hope there's another dual purpose one out there for you. I've never heard of anyone being treated with two biologics at the same time. I think I'm right in saying Xeljanz was the first JAK passed for approval for RD here, it was certainly the more prevalently written about one when I first heard of the drug group. All the best for your appointment, let us know how it pans out.

Wow, thank you so much for the link. Honestly I’m not so computer inclined and can’t find things on here. So many resources. I also was directed for a link from another member here for fatigue. I can’t rave more loudly about this site. I was telling my husband that the UK is brilliant and leaders in medical treatment and moreso the kind of support offered. I wanna move over there from Canada- we seem so behind the times, limited in support and decent information, it’s like everything is a big secret over here. I feel unknowledgeable about my own treatment options and I’m certain our doctor prescribe the brand of medicine they get the most kickbacks for. I love Canada but we have a lot of catching up to do.

I think that was also me Hobbits. I love promoting NRAS and their literature. :-)

Extremely valuable information. The click to request hard copy doesn’t work for me, but I can download the info with the link.
