I’ve been on Methotrexate for 5 years and haven’t had any problems! It has really helped me a lot! Best of luck!

Hi

If it works, it tend to work well for most peeps, me included, however it’s a hard drug to get use too. Mtx, is usually given in combination with other Damaris, as it seems to boost the other drug(s), effects.

Good luck in your Dardanelles journey

Joanne

Hi. I was on Sulfasalazine and Hydroxychloroquine. I was started on MTX in tablet form, and like many others, I felt really sick.

Many people have bad side effects with the tablets. I am now on MTX injections (Metoject) and, for me, this is a much better way of taking MTX. It goes straight into your system and so doesn't impact on the stomach. Far fewer side effects. Just a little bravery needed when you start self injecting.

Good luck!

Hi jan I’ve taken myself off mtx tablets it was making my hair fall out so much I’ve lost at least half the thickness and I had extremely sore skin and very loose stools over the last few months I’ve been on it since January and my RA nurse told me 3 weeks ago to stop and see how things go and if it all settles Down I’m Extremely Allergic to NSAIDs Any Sulphonamide Medication was you on the MTX tablets before having the injection form and if so does the injection give you any side effects as I’ve experienced on the tablet form 😔

Regards Shelly x

The injections have had only minor effects. The tablets made me really ill.

I think the dose is lower in the injections which is a bonus.

Hi, I had a rash when I was on sulfasalazine too. Been on lots of combinations of different drugs, methotrexate has always been included. I’m now on methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, Naproxen & give myself weekly injections on Benepali, I’m better than I’ve ever been, guess I should be with all the meds!!

Hi Don

I started 4 weeks ago on methotrexate and have been absolutely fine with it not a side effect at all. I'm still in pain as it does take 3 months for the drug to work, I also take hydroxychloroquine daily too. Like you I was a little worried about taking it as you always seem to get the negatives but I'm quite glad I have started on it and am willing to see how it goes for now. All the best.
