Meds during hospitalisation

I was rushed into hospital after unconscious collapse with severe diverticulitis and rectal bleeding. I was due to have my abacept infusion but because of infection I wasn't able to have it. I am now home with antibiotics and I inject mtx and due tonight but been told not to do it.. I am thinking that I am going to flare as no rheumy meds for 2 weeks, I am already feeling more pain and stiffness. How can I help myself get round this?

I was told to stop methotrexate and enbrel injections when I was hospitalised with a serious infection a few years ago. I was off all RA meds for a long time and recall it took at least 3 weeks before my RA started to flare, so hopefully you should be ok for a 2 week period. My rheumy told me that enbrel leaves the body pretty quickly while mtx usually takes a few weeks. She also said that anti-biotics have been known to subdue inflammation in some people with RA.

Thankyou wishbone for your reply that gives me hope. I am at home alone, as my husband who has dementia and I am a full time carer he has had to go in respite care for a while whilst I recover and was worried that I would struggle.

Hope your RD holds off like mine did, you recover soon and can get back on your meds.

Oh gawd, Marhar52, oh gawd . . . when the 💩 hits the fan — it hits the fan. 😧 😔 😞

Hoping 🙏 you’ll feel better soon. 😌

Don’t have any immediate, short-term ‘quick fixes’, merely longer term thoughts about diverticulitis if interested ( healthunlocked.com/nras/pos... ). (Merely scroll all the way down towards bottom of page to "Diverticulosis/ Diverticulitis").

Wishing you speedy improvement & reuniting with your beloved 👱‍♂️. 🙏 😌

.

If you don’t mind my asking, have you loved ones (family, friends, neighbours) who might be able to pop in & check on you periodically? 🤔 Or, even kindly be able to offer a helping hand if needed? 🤔

Are you comfortable managing on your own or do you think it might be a possible consideration to have a bit of extra TLC at this time? 🤔

[Am concerned that maybe it’d be best if you might consider having someone keep a tender eye 👁 on you? 🤔 (Merely a thought . . . merely a thought . . . 🤔 💭 )]

Please take good care, Marhar52. 😌 🙏 🍀 🌺 🌞

You need to ask your medical team for advice - don't just put up with it!
