Does everyone automatically put weight on when taking Pregabalin?

Diagnosed with trapped nerve and unable to tolerate opioids. Have been reading horror stories about people piling on the pounds immediately. I have been on 225mgs daily for a month now and have not gained. Is that yet to come? Hope not!

I've been on pregabalin 14 months, currently taking 250mg daily plus an extra 25mg when necessary & not gained weight from it. As much as we're all different so is how we respond to meds, maybe your metabolism is much like mine & you're not predisposed to weight gain from meds generally.

Anyhow, don't shout about it, they'll all want to be like us! 😜

How very reassuring! Thank you! No, don't tend to put on weight and have stuck at 9 stone for years despite prednisolone for 30 years at varying dosage (been on 7.5mgs daily for years) and Abatacept currently for RA. Hopefully I won't be on Pregabalin for longer than necessary. -MRI scan due for management of trapped femoral nerve - so one less drug to be taken soon. I hope to have more reassuring replies from lots of others! Good luck with whatever you're on Pregabalin for.

No I haven't.feel it but don't weigh any more.depends what your body's like.Drugs react on others differently I guess.I have been on it 7 years.mine was given for nerve damage. I did manage to reduce it from 450mg a day to 350mg but went through awful side effects.

Hope it works for you

Thanks. It's good to hear you haven't put weight on with this drug and you've been on it long enough to know! I haven't ever put weight on with any but haven't been unlucky enough to be immobile for any length of time and I think that's probably the problem. Again, thanks for your reply and all best wishes.

Hello,

I’ve been on pregablin for just over 2 years. I am now on 300mgs a day split into 2, morning and evening. I am one of those who has piled on the lbs. I was roughly 8.5 stone when I started taking it and I am now 11 stone. I don’t think it’s all due to the pregablin but also a reduction in exercise and mobility. Everyone’s different. By the sounds of it you’ll have no problem with weigh gain.

Hi. Appreciate your reply and sorry you put on weight with Pregabalin. I think you're right that most of the problem is the lack of mobility especially if you've been active prior to what ever caused you to have the drug. Thanks again for taking the trouble to reply and good luck.
