I hope it goes well today Magymay & you're able to get across how things affect you, better than was understood by your assessor anyhow.

I hope your assessment goes well, I had mine 2 weeks ago and was advised to say how I am on my worse day as who knows you can be ok one day and not the next. The community got me a taxi to get there as the assessment office is over 20 miles away. When I got there the office was at the end of a big long corridor that I had to struggle down with a stick, and I sure that was part of the assessment. I was in pain that day and that did not help, I am waiting for the outcome. Hope your goes ok but it is stressful and you will be glad when it is over. Hope it goes well for you.

That corridor is a certain size I've been told .the places all havexthem and if you can walk down it that losses you points apparently. My appeal was horrendous they tried to trip me up so many times but I was very blunt and didn't say sometimes or most of the time it's like this or that ,just no I can't do this and I donned that .I got six points and they totally dismissed that I'm prone to falls and only go out accompanied. It's now going to a higher court 😔hope yours goes well 😀

I hope it went well for you today x

When I told (one of) my assessors that the interview was inaccessible because of the distance u had to walk ( in a nice way!) She implied (as in, I shouldn't tell you this but...) that it was part of the assessment. So my advice to anyone going now, is to tell them how many times you had to stop; how much it hurt etc etc.

Fingers crossed for you x

I’d have to agree with what you’ve written, Lizzie. A colleague of mine, who has AS and had previously received lifetime award for DLA ( highest rates ) attended her PIP assessment recently. As you referred too, she had to walk Down a long corridor to see the assessor who then did not ask about her mobility but stated in the report that she mobilised effectively- based on the fact she made it down that corridor!

I’d have to agree with what you’ve written, Lizzie. A colleague of mine, who has AS and had previously received lifetime award for DLA ( highest rates ) attended her PIP assessment recently. She too had to walk down a long corridor to meet with the assessor . At the interview, he did not ask her about her mobility instead writing in her report, that she could mobilise without difficulty. This resulted in her losing the mobility rate of PIP- something that she absolutely depended on, in terms of her car, to allow her to manage work and life in general. Scandalous

Disgusting .. She should appeal. My friend had this too and she is more immobile then I am. Her back is deteriorating. I can walk but it's not consistent enough but it's in my hands elbows and shoulders so I would struggle to undertake a regular job and my GP says I would not be reliable given my fluctuation if stiffness. I would not make it there on time in a morning.

I had an ATOS idiotic assessor four years ago who sent me to a job club and tried to say nothing was wrong. When I went to the employment office the young man said .. Why are you here? I'll help you to appeal. He did and so did my doctor and consultant. I had similar scenarios .. Long corridor and I said this is crazy I'm limping on two sticks and seized up as I've waited two hours but I did it very slowly. Had to grab the desk to stand and haul myself up from a lower seat she put that down as .. Can easily stand unaided ! She was an airhead and said .. What do you like to read? OK Magazine?? Err no I'd I told you it might blow your mind! How many times do you use your iPad or iPhone? Hmm I think I see through that I said .. If you can text someone then you can work?! Well no it's not the same. A quick thumb iPhone message is not the same as a 50 page report. They are devious and horrible and most of all .. Not medically qualified to make decisions. That is not acceptable. Maybe it's different with PIP and they are qualified?
