I really hope this year is better for everyone. That it is as pain-free as possible, that you get comfort and support from those around you, and that you regain the full life you once had. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2018.

Swings and roundabouts I think. The stress is definitely better because I’m now in my own house, but the stress of how much work needs to be done, with no money, it’s really tough. Not to be able to do anything myself because the pain is really bad still, it’s very difficult.

My energy is better, my flu like symptoms have gone, but the pain is still here. I wonder if it will ever go away.

I can empathise with that Jules. I live alone & used to do all my own DIY..I was a dab hand with a paintbrush & an electric drill ,& it was frustrating to see stuff I would normally do & know that I couldn't anymore...but things do improve.

The day day will come.....not as soon as you want maybe....when you will gradually be able to do some work yourself. In the meantime concentrate on getting your meds sorted & friends come to your house to see you ...not to criticise your decor. I know you say your house needs a lot of work, but look on the brighter side, you are warm & have a roof over your head...just imagine if you were in a rented hovel, with no cooking facilities like Kathy who wrote in the other day.

So chin up,Spring is coming & your meds will hopefully kick in really soon.

Look forward to 2018....it can't be as bad as last year was for you.....can it ?

Yes. I know I’m very lucky to have my own place. Would never underestimate that. Sick of microwave meals though. And no fridge. Thanks god it’s winter. Put everything outside.

If you still haven't got a fridge when the warmer weather comes Jules...look in 'For Sale' in your local paper.....when I've moved & left an integrated fridge in the old house I've picked up fridges for a tenner from those ads! Then you can donate it to the Sally Army when you get your new kitchen. In fact The freezer in my garage is one of those buys & it has lasted 12 years so far!

Another great convenience at this time of year is a slow cooker...just throw everything in...in the morning & yummy meal by the evening....great for veggie casseroles!

I bet you are the only one among us who wants it to stay cold!

Happy New Year Jules. Was wondering how you were getting on as we'd not heard from you for a little while. Did you see in the New Year at your new home? x

I haven’t been on here much because there hasn’t been really much to report. And the stress and time it takes to move into my house and get everything sorted as much as possible... well I haven’t had a spare second.

Things are definitely feeling better but I’m not there yet. The pain is exasperating. Just a simple task of screwing in a nail is impossible. That’s very frustrating.

You'll get there. Try not to stress & the more you become controlled the pain should melt away. No knocking in nails & screwing in screws in though! x

It’s very tempting to keep trying though.

Oh Jules, please don't stress over getting your new home sorted. It will come together in time. Just like your RA will come under control hopefully within the next couple of weeks.....but I just gotta tell you.....

Gosh, I have a lot of respect for you.....and I don't even know you!! Ya wanna know what I think about you?.... Good Lord Girl.....You bought a house!!! ... all by yourself... and to top it all off, you are dealing with RA!!

So, welcome to the wonderful world of home ownership! My hubby & I struggled to buy our home 15 years ago, and we are still renovating it :) ...so relax and enjoy your accomplishments.

Happy New year too you

Sue

Thanks sue. I know I’m a very lucky girl and things will come good. I am at least getting my cooker and fridge next week so no more microwaving soup!!! And as for decorating, at least it’s not painted some horrific colour so I can live with it for a bit!!
