Hi

I'm a bit confused about £10 being credited to my bank account from PIP DWP yesterday. Just want to know if this is a normal payment for this time of year or is an error. I'm due my next payment on boxing day and thought it might be a bit earlier but not sure.

Does anyone have any ideas

A few years ago someone decided to give over 60/65's a Christmas Bonus. I don't remember ever receiving a personal explanation!

Don't spend it all at once!

Merry Christmas!

Everyone receiving pip now gets it- I usually receive a letter telling me but this year it was just paid into my account

If you Google Christmas Bonus it tells you who is eligible to receive it...briefly you have to be in the UK for " the qualifying week" (?),& be in receipt of some sort of Benefit, including the DSS Retirement Pension, which means very rich people get it....which rather defeats the object!

I don't know how much it costs in total, but personally I'd rather my £10 went straight into the NHS, or to help the homeless.

I don't believe throwing money at a problem is always the answer, but it must cost a few million to give everyone on a Benefit £10...& many won't need it.

I’d totally give mine up too. Whilst there are many who would definitely benefit, I would agree, not all.

They usually send out a £10 Christmas bonus every year and notify you by post in advance.

You should have had confirmation through the post, mine came yesterday, maybe it was put into your bank account before it had time to arrive, but it's your PIP Christmas bonus. If you're awarded PIP or certain other benefits you get it each Christmas.

Hi.I received a letter from the DWP. Everyone receiving pip gets an extra 1o pounds at Christmas. X

It makes me cross. I get PIP and also earn a good salary. I don't need an extra £10 but many others do. There are many years in the past when an extra £10 would have made a big difference to Christmas - like my son's first-ever Christmas when my total budget for Christmas presents and treats was £15. That's the reality for many people now, still. Paying me £10 - and sending me a letter about it too - takes £12 or so out of the Benefits budget, and means less for people who really need it. I wish payments like these were income assessed... But I don't think people on JSA or ESA even get them.
