Future triple arthrodesis

Greetings, It was suggested to me by my foot and ankle orthopedic doctor that I undergo a triple arthodesis to my Rt foot. I have a severe flatfoot that greatly overpronates (turns in) and my foot is off to the side. I do have difficulty walking and get numbness, burning and tingling with weight bearing. Im scared of loosing the side to side motion with the T. A. surgery. Several podiatrists thought i could get away with a double arthrodesis. But all the O.S. say to do the triple. Im scared but i need to be able to walk better. All prior conservative measures were unsuccessful. My ankle is swollen and foot deformed. Im afraid maybe the surgery wont help me. Im afraid of the pain and the long recovery. They offered me a surgery date of 12/4/2017 Yikes. Any thoughts or anyone with T.A. experiences. Thanks much

Thinking of you as you consider your options.

December is sometimes a good month to get surgery as fewer people want to be in hospital close to Christmas.

I had surgery Dec 9th 2014, felt I got better care than if there had been more patients opting to go in then.

That was in WV, now back in good old Scotland, across the pond.

Hope you can decide soon!

Thank you for your response, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I did schedule surgery for 12/4/17. I am scared but I know that I must do something as it is getting harder to walk. Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

jane

Hi Jane

Medwaylady below has had it done, sounds promising!

I am in United Kingdom of Grt Britain, no Thanksgiving celebrated here.

Hope you can enjoy yours!

I had similar not flat footed though but a turning in of my left foot. It was corrected o the 18 October last , and has not been any issues. Some great but neat scars and still wearing the dreadful black boot but honestly its so worth it. Although still a bit swollen my foot is straight and matches the right one! lol

I woke up no sickness no pain and most definately hungry. I do have blood issues and that meant I had to stay in but I knew that and to be honest about from my family taking the mickey out of my click clacking walking, there have been no issues at all. Except one it did affect the RA and took it out of remission and I've had a steriod jab to get it back under control, it is working and I'm looking forward to new shoes.........
