Leflunomide

Has anyone had a rise in blood pressure while taking leflunomide and what were you advised to do?

I did as taking both leflunomide and methotrexate. Spoke the gp and rheumy nurse so now take blood pressure tablets.

My blood pressure is higher than it used to be before diagnosis of RA. I had to stop as I didn't Tolerate it very well. So on MXT 20mg injections only for the moment but soon to start benepali if the delivery arrives.

Time band today 11-1300. Let's hope it arrives.

It's one of the common side effects of Leflunomide. It is sometimes possible to deal with it through lifestyle changes (loosing weight if you need to, eating a better low salt diet, and taking more exercise). Otherwise it's choice between taking blood pressure medication or changing to another RA drug. Sorry...
