Spoke to a friend in America with RA. She told me about Boswellia (Frankincense) and MSM (sulphur).

Has anyone else tried these supplements?

Have tried both. Boswellia really works on swollen joints. Since my joints are no longer swollen I stopped using it . MSM is really worth trying have been on it a long time and it helps getting joints supple and with morning stiffness

Are you from the US? None of my Brit people have heard of them. How much do you take? I'm currently on MSM 500mg in morning and 500mg in evening. Boswellia I've just ordered so not sure the dosage.

I am from France but recommendations for the use of these products come from research mostly done in the US. I take 1tsp a day of MSM in crystal form. I think daily dose of Boswellia easy to find on google.😊

Crystals... blimey. Mine comes in a capsule but its probably the same thing. Are you still taking the Boswellia too?

I am a bit weary about capsules and what fillers are put in them. My stuff is 99,9% pure. No I'm not taking Boswellia right now, since no swelling.

Ahhh. Well I do trust this company as have had many supplements from them. The capsules are vegetarian gelatine and its pure ground MSM and Boswellia. That's why they're so expensive. Groan. Don't get me started on how much all the vitamins and supplements cost!

I have plowed through so many that really afraid to think about the cost😳Have finally, hopefully, come to a point where only essential supplements left!

Hi, I once did take Boswellia herbal tablets many years ago and was told by a very experienced rheumatology nurse that I could not take that alongside my prescribed RA med as Boswellia is a very powerful plant sterol.

I have used Medisan Frankinsence cream on my knee when it's been very stiff and I do sometimes inhale Frankinsence aromatherapy oil in water for blocked sinuses. Neither I do that often. Always best though to check every herbal etc with your consultant.

I take MSM daily and find it very good for me.

Apparently it's great for the skin too.

I was thinking of trying Botswella, but don't think I'll bother after reading this thread. The problem with asking one's consultant is that many are not familiar with something like this so can't advise one way or the other, which is a pity as no doubt some herbal stuff etc can help in some cases.

My rheumatologist has a large resource file on all herbal and alternative remedies so she's very up on all the herbal things. She may be unusual in that fact as many don't know herbal/health store products.

That's good to hear. It was your previous post that made me think twice about trying Botswella, err...I mean Boswellia. :-) Think my spelling is a bit off for that word in my previous post.
