Hi Jenny and Philip, I live in the Sacramento area. Mainly, I'd like to move to 1)escape family drama-one kid that is never going to grow up and handle her own stuff if we are nearby to rescue her and 2)it would be nice to live somewhere where winter visits rather than stays seemingly forever and also live somewhere with activities not just "downtown" or mainly "outdoorsy" .

Welcome Dani, I understand the desire to move. We have my husbands family living with us in a separate apartment. They are 81 and 83 and both have medical issues. They lived in their home for 53 yrs before moving in. I had promised not to sell until they have passed. That was before becoming ill. Now I need to make several renovations as we live upstairs. These stairs have become very challenging. It is such a major adjustment for them. I fortunately worked out financial solutions which have enabled us to keep this home despite the change in circumstance. It sucks to be the sandwich generation but it is what it is. I prefer being close by, should they need help.

It is so very expensive to live in Vancouver, or lower mainland. It is 2000 per month for a one bedroom. My son lives with two other people. Fortunately they have been friends for years so it works but it is a challenge. My two youngest live with mom as it is closer to school and work. They are 21 and 25. My niece is 30 next month and still lives at home.

It maybe sexist but I feel saver having my daughter at home. I do not want her living with strangers but it maybe enevitable.

Hi Damaged. Wow! Sandwich indeed. Both sets of parents have passed for us as of last year. Now its mainly our going to be 29 next week daughter. She makes poor realtionship choices and then expects Mama and Daddy to bail her out of it. She has just moved to her own place again after sleeping on our couch for 6 months. I'm so very glad to have my house back!

Currently, I'm dealing with new nodules on my hands and left foot so its really nice not to have someone saying "mama, drive me to school/work/baby daddy's"

I also lost both parents and three siblings, my sister died at 24 a week before I was to give her a kidney.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Damaged! I lost my dad, my bio mom and my mama all within 11 months. My husband lost his mom 2 years ago and his dad last year.

My dad passed six months following my mom. They were both 67. My brother at 35 and a brother I barely knew passed at seven from a fall.

I spent a great deal of time studying comparative religious views of death and dying. No one really knows what comes next but energy is infinite . So I simply view it as a step in a continuous cycle.

I often joke around but I think I must have been seriously evil in a previous life to have so many challenges in this one ☝️I believe there is a reason for every experience. I was not expecting to survive but here I am. So Perhaps there is still something I have left undone. I have been working on starting a new program for people with RD. Particularly the ones who are newly diagnosed. It is an area which is grossly inadequate. People need to wait six to eight weeks for a social worker! I think they need a Financial Planner ! But what I would like to see is a busy system. A lists of people in your area with this condition. Someone to guide you through the bereaucratic maze of insurance, governments and pharmaceuticals.

Are you in the UK? The reason I ask is we have patient advocates, at least at my med group that help with navigating the different doctors and medications and insurance. You get one upon request if you have a chronic condition.

Hi dani I too have RA called Enthesiopathy inflammation of tendons and ligaments from neck downwards , me my partner and our beautiful hammi molly live in England we have seasons and I like that, I wouldn't cope with being hot all day everyday!!! Where would you like to live where's your fave place in the world ?

Hi Lise! Let's see...my favorite place that I've been to is New Orleans but I wouldn't want to live there...too much crime! I'd like to live at the other in of the state of Louisiana, in a town named Lake Charles or in San Antonio, Texas.

When the weather is warm and moist, I can do more of the things I love..like counted cross stitch, knitting and on a really good day, beadwork! Also my garden hopefully wouldn't die off in the winter-it makes me very sad when my coleus die off!

My fave place is costa tiguise lanzarote it's last place me n mum went before she got ill and sadly passed away but I wouldn't like to live their too hot and too laid back I'd love to live in a mansion in Cheshire uk , I'd love a garden to sit in the summer months and have a paddling pool for my beautiful niece n nephew love flowers although I know nothing about flowers / plants I'm not green fingers lol I've no garden I live in a flat. My hobbies are reading drawing cartoons , walking and looking after molly my Syrian hamster she's brilliant and clever !!!

Hi again everyone! Just want to say that Husband has decided when he retires....we are moving to Texas! ! Probably going to take a "tour" of the state next spring/summer. I'm angling for the Gulf Coast (Galveston) area. Just had to share my excitement!

That's a beautiful area. I was born in the high desert of California and always feel best in the "dry heat". I spent nearly all of my professional life traveling but was mostly based in Nevada, again the dry heat but Texas was hands down one of my favorites. Loved the people and Galveston was a lot of fun. I loved Austin too. I'm excited for you! 😊

Thanks Nitrobunny! Got to say love your "name"! We have driven to New Orleans and gone through Texas-some how missed Galveston (still its first on the list due to location and housing prices). We visited San ANtonio though abd loved it. Houston's a little big for Husband...

He was thinking maybe Nevada until we visited Las Vegas this spring and also realized that Nevada is still within "rescue me" range. I also hear good things about healthcare there...husband is a special procedure technologist.

I had amazing health care in the Las Vegas area. The weather is ideal for all my autoimmune issues and honestly it has the best support for families I've ever seen. The taxes from the casinos go to communities and education. I raised my three sons there and one just moved back with his family and they couldn't be happier. We plan on moving back there within a couple years after my step son goes to college.

As I said I'm super excited for you. I saw that you loved New Orleans and I have no doubt you'll love Galveston too.

I liked Vegas, husband didn't so onward and southward(?😉). We went because we had vacation scheduled and it was still cold and rainy here in mid-May. I said "take me somewhere Warm!" so we started with Vegas and also went to Death Valley- definately warm there!

I love, love, love to go fast!!! We have a '68 convertible Camaro jigsaw in our garage-big block still in the box.

That's awesome! My daily driver is a 2001 Corvette. It's my second Corvette. I bought myself the first one when my three sons turned 18. That was my reward for raising three boys the same age LOL
