Wrist supports and compression gloves

I currently use a neoprene wrist support for my swollen and sore right wrist but I find it gets sweaty in this heat. Has anyone used a really good wrist support that is comfortable, supportive and doesn't get so sweaty? I've been reading reviews on Amazon but they are from people with carpal tunnel.

My second question is about compression gloves. Do they do anything? I was looking at a pair of dr arthritis fingerless gloves in Amazon.

I live in France, and my Rheumy prescribed made to measure supports - they are made by a chemist moulding a piece of 'plastic-type' material around part of your forearm and hand and then cutting and manipulating to fit. I have one that supports the thumb and the whole hand down to finger tips that I can wear at night, and another that has a hole for the thumb and only goes half-way down the fingers allowing you to do things during the day. The relief when wearing is wonderful, from the first minute! I have also worn ones purchased from a chemist that have metal strips in them to support the wrist (usually worn when gardening), these are okay but not as good as the made-to-measure. Not sure where you live, but I would have thought they do the made-to measure version in the UK. Never tried compression gloves. Hope you find some relief soon. xo

Thanks, I'm having a steroid injection on the 1st August which should help.

Hi Ruth, That seems like a long time to wait for a steroid injection, have you not been given prednisone? Is the long delay because you are you in the UK? Kay

It's only the one joint and it isn't too bad most of the time, mainly hurts when I drive or if I over do something at work (I teach Reception so lots of cutting out and laminating lol). Yes I am in the U.K. But this one is being done quicker than the last one 🙃

I had some of the moulded plastic ones that the occupational therapist made for me. They didn't do much and very restrictive. I have some grey compression gloves that I got from Amazon and they work quite well. For the wrist I sometimes firmly wrap a bandage around it so you could try that. Not too tight though, you don't want to cut off your circulation. I too find the neoprene ones sweaty.

hospital gave me compression gloves [a name like Inversoft, or Isomer} - abfab and lightweight but GPs can't prescribe so i bought from the company in Wessex i think. For ankles i get v v cheap thai kickboxer ankle supprts via internet. LOL but they help.. I sent for similar gloves but not so good. PM me and i will try to find the old invoice but beware of many advertised products - many rubbish. Good luck x
