Hi Rocky

I just wanted you to know I do not make any judgement on you as a person and my comment was not meant to suggest that you were a negative person.

I simply suggested that if you were to try to take a more positive attitude towards rehab, accepting your need to be there and just getting on with putting all your energy into recovery, it might serve you better ? As a result, you may get home quicker?

Again, no matter what you decide to do , I wish you well .

I don't know what was posted previously so I'm sorry if any post has upset you. I believe that we all get a bit negative sometimes, well I do certainly. Today is a half full type day as am tired and my cough still not gone. But tomorrow is another day and life with RA an adventure.

I believe that I live with RA and do not suffer with it as I've had very good treatment, great GP's and consultant and RA nurses. I do believe and go to church too, but don't think this type of group is relative to faith. If I just relied on faith I can say I'd be in agony, so yes have faith but keep taking the advice and medications prescibed.

May be if you still feel down you could talk to the GP as hospitals are depressing places and also boring. When bored the mind plays tricks and little things take on huge significance which in normal circumstances we'd all ignore. Stay posative and cheerful. x

We are all rooting for you Rocky. I'm not surprised that your mood and motivation have taken a dip with everything that you've been through. We've probably all been in a pretty dark place emotionally at one point or another during our journey, and know what a horrible place that can be. I hope that what I wrote wasn't construed as negative. My aim was to help focus your mind and help you think about concrete goals to work on whilst in rehab. Hoping that everything works out well for you and you get home soon. x

Have you made pals with any other patients Rocky? Maybe you will find someone who is interested in the same sport as you, or did the same job as you, or even lives near your home & you could help each other when you do leave rehab?

As I said before, I bet no one wants to be in rehab for very long. But if you don't take advantage of all the physio & other treatments available you will really regret it if you go home only half 'done'!

Good luck...keep at it!

That's great Rocky...I'm sure your encouragement to this young lad will be a real boost to him....poor young chap to lose a leg before he's had any of the experiences you had in your youth.......keep on encouraging him to think of all the one legged youngsters who take part in the Paralympics...or even if he doesn't get that far there is wheelchair basket ball or tennis.

Get him to concentrate on the upside...I'm sure you will be a good friend to him.

Once your physio gets going you will both be able to get out to any outside spaces the rehab unit has.

You'll get there soon Rocky!

Of course you both want to go home.....but if at all possible not in a wheelchair !

So soldier on with the physio & keep up the good work with the young lad.

Make him realise that if he doesn't grab his chance of rehab now, he might be in a wheelchair for a longtime & might not get another chance to get all the help this unit can offer you both.

Thanks agedcrone but he knows he will have an artificial leg one day but feels its not going to help him and getting back to me I feel I have lost so much energy my bowel habits have changed they won't allow me to take my herbal medication which helped me at home ???????

Rocky can you get a video of the Paralympic to show this young man?

People who lost BOTH legs run , play wheelchair tennis, throw themselves around playing volleyball......

It's all new for him & it us very sad for him...but it's done &'he needs everyone's help to move forward. I'm sure getting used to a prosthetic leg won't be easy......but as I'm sure his physio tells him, thousands live very productive lives with one leg.

As for your herbal medicine.....probably a case of Doc knows best!

Aged crone the only thing I can show him is nick vujucic on utube the guy that was born with no arms no legs who is very positive but I don't know if that would be upset him check utube as. For the herbal medication which I have taken for a long time and know that it helps my stomach I have to disagree doctors know best yes when it comes to very toxic medication with numerous amount of side effects???????
