Just got mandatory reconsideration letter in and as my RA symptoms only affect me in the morning and as I swim I am now fully capable of work. Never mind the consultant dosent think so and we have no working set of medication. Next thing for me DWP sanctions no doubt.

Do check the citizens advice website citizensadvice.org.uk for guidance on appeals process, if you feel you want to go down that road.
Oh Nik I'm so sorry to hear that. If you feel strong enough to appeal, perhaps the help-line can offer some advice or, as RA22345 suggests, try Citizens Advice. Strange isn't it that tightened regulations on claiming these benefits, supposed to weed out the bogus claimant, have denied those benefits to so many genuine people. Not political, just saying. Wishing you all the luck in the world. Big hugs

Sorry to read the trouble you are having with the DSS. They have no idea what life is like for us folk who suffer from various painful illnesses, RA being one of them. If anyone is reading this and need to appeal and fight the DSS, look up and join the help/support group called Benefits and work. Please look it up and see how it can help you. They have fabulous guides to help you complete the crafty DSS forms and tell you what wording is required to obtain the points you need as the DSS get round your wording by using definitions, so the Benefits site tells you just what words you need to write to gain the most points to claim what you are entitled to, without the DSS knocking you down because you have not used the correct wording. There is a small fee if you wish to make full use of the website, but I myself have had to appeal ESA and have used the guides on several occasions. The site has been set up and run by Solicitors, Citizens Advice Bureau staff, ex DSS staff, so it is a real benefit. Please just take a look and you will see how it will benefit you and how it has helped so many others. I hope it will help you as it helped me.
