Anyone expetienced soft tissue infection whilst taking leflunomide?

I woke up this morning with nasty, pus filled infection on my middle finger near nail.

Rather weirdly I had a dream last night that I got an infection in my hand. When it was opened up, sand poured out!!!!

I'm on LEF, not had any soft tissue problems at all. I have had paronychia once though, way, way back when I was a child. It was on one of the occasions when I trapped my index finger in the car door. It was the second time for the same finger & as for this one & another before Mum treated it with Germolene. Once the nail bed was exposed that was when it was obvious something was wrong, it was swollen, red & angry looking so she took me to the doctors. His advice was to bathe it twice a day in saltwater as hot as I could stand. He also told her that it had become infected (paronychia) & by applying Germolene she was 'feeding the germ'. Don't know just how correct that was she never used that or Savlon again! Oddly enough though she continued to paint gentian violet on my scabby knees though (through them giving up on me & falling I hasten to add!)

I'm not sure being on LEF leaves you more at risk to paronychia, it's more likely to be when in biologics but I'd not be using things like cleaning detergents or any harsh chemicals without Marigolds, not just Mia but from now on, if you become prone they may become a problem. As it's already pus'y I'd be seeing my doctor, I would think he'd probably prescribe antibiotics. If it responds it should be ok within a fortnight, though if it's resistant it may be a fungal problem. Sending a sample off to be tested would confirm if it is.
