Mtx and sulfasalazine

Today I finally started sulfasalazine. What are your experiences of the Mtx and sulfa combination? Any good? Bad side effects? The only ray of light from today's consultation is coming off the steroids. Thanks. X

How do you take the sulfasalazineon a Mtx day?

I do my mtx injection on a Monday (weekly) and I take sulfasalazine every day: 2 tablets in the morning and 2 in the evening. They are 'coated' tablets so are kinder on the stomach.

I take Mtx tabs. Doc wasn't clear on howhat to space Monday evening doses. Will give a ring to check. Thanks.x

To be honest, I just do my injection whenever on Monday (usually around 5-6) and my sulfasalazine is around 9 up until 11 (morning) and then anything from 5ish- 7ish in the evening.

I had no side effects from sulfasalazine but unfortunately had an allergic reaction to it. I was told it was very rare. I was so disappointed because it was starting to work. I'm also on 15mg mtx (reduced from 20mg as my liver objected). I've now just started humira. I hope you have a positive experience xXx

Thank you for your reply. I take 25mg Mtx at the moment. I'm topped up with steroid injections. I just want something to help really. Hydroxychloroquin didn't agree with me so had to stop it.

Hi should be ok I take 25mg weekly of mxt normally fri am sulfasalzine 7 daily 3 am 4 pm and take benapali injection on monday a long with a colourful cocktail of other meds for other conditions but still get ocationial flare ups
