Very good explanation of age, qualification, and how much both the old & New Retirement State Pensions pay in 2017.

Thankyou, this is very helpful. I'm one of those people who planned for a 60 retirement a now has to stretch my savings longer. Its made worse by having to take ill health retirement at 50. Something you don't plan for.

Although it doesn't help with the state pension it may apply to a private company pension scheme.

Although they arren't over generous & you should certainly take advice before you accept anything.

Ive been ill health retired for three years now, a case of having too. I was lucky enough to have thirty years in the nhs, not a lot but something and topped up by the state. However, I don't think any of us expect it especially when we have careers. Then when the government move the goal posts, it adds to the kick in the teeth. I felt we entered an agreement when we paid into our state pensions when it would pay out an that hasn't been upheld. Rant over.

I agree........ that's politicians for you! I'm so old I still got my state pension at 60 & a Private pension that was due at 55 I took as a reduced pension at 50 as I was still able to work and after the horrors of the Private Pension Schemes that just just 'disappeared' I thought it better to get something at 50 rather than nothing at 55!

I think the contributions we paid years ago should have been increased at something like 50% of inflation. Of course at 30 years of age that would have been very unpopular, but at 60 we would see the advantage. We pay the lowest contributions in Europe so of course we get the lowest pensions..

I wish you better health.
