I saw my consultant today and reviewing my meds it was agreed MTx wasn't suiting me so that has stopped. He checked pressure points and says I have fibromyalgia in addition to RA. He's prescribed me Gabapentin to take alongside the sulfasalazine. I'm not really sure what to think as I've heard so many people say fibromyalgia isn't a condition. Looking it up lots of my other symptons fit but they do kind of over lap. Anyone else in the same boat?

Fibromyalgia added in to the mix
Hi, i have suffered with RA since 2014 and following recent 6 month review it appears i also have fibromyalgia along side of RA this left me a little confused but the consultant assured me it is possible to have both and just need to work out the right medication i am reluctant to come off MTX injections as they do work for me, Fibro myalgia is a condition and can be extremely painful if severe but can be managed with the correct meds, There is a medical term for both RA and Fibro sufferers just cant remember what its called.
Good luck hope all works out for you.
Hi, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 30yrs ago by a Rheumatologist, and RA 10yrs ago. I was told the two often go together. I also take Sulfasalazine and Gabapentin and both work well for me. I was only prescribed the Gabapentin 4 months ago after years of failure on all other medication. Not all my pain from the Fibromyalgia has disappeared, but it has been a very big help and I am coping so much better. Hope it works for you, all the best.
