Need to start nsaid again but which one....

Morning peeps- hope this Sunday finds you rested?

I am still waiting for my Cimzia (started back end of Dec).to kick in and have needed to take paracetamol 4 rimes a day to try to keep functioning; I need to add an anti-inflammatory back into the mix as I'm in constant pain in pretty much all my joints still. I have an arsenal of nsaids- all of them really lol...but what to choose 😥

I should add that I also regularly take: folic acid, mtx (metoject 20ml weekly) cyanocobalamin (b12 x2) omeprazole (twice a day) Sulfasalazine (4 a day) calceous (twice a day)

Naproxen is supposed to be the kindest to your stomach, but none of them are intended forlong-term use.

I cant answer your question in a positive manner but i would warn that with all those other meds + Cymzia a major consideration should be avoiding anything that clashes with the already heady cocktail that you are consuming. If i remember correctly with Cymzia it was suggested that up to 12 weeks should be allowed for it to take effect or show signs of changes. I have seen many reports stating that notable changes happened long before that. It my own case im afraid i got to 2nd jab and violently rejected the drug and that was the end of that.

Hope it starts to work for you soon.

Blessings

Please dont be disheartened by my experience the majority of patients have positive results and some not enough to justify continueing but very very few have the negative reaction i did. I very much believe in realistic positive thinking, speaking of which very interesting documentary on placebo effect tonight (well tomorrow technically) at 01.45 to 02.45 on BBC TV channel 4. Very worth recording or catching on i player.

Blessings

Hi Moomin

Sorry to hear you're getting pain and discomfort as you wait for the Cimzia to kick in.

I'm on sulphasalazine 4 a day and MTX 15 mg a week, with folic acid. I'm pretty much well controlled with that but I use naproxen twice a day as my go-to NSAID for any breakthrough pain, with an omeprazole of course. Works for me.

Wishing you all the best and hoping the Cimzia kicks in very soon for you.

It is called Vimovo 500mg of slow release naproxen and 20mg of esomeprazole. I was taken Voltarol and Lanzaprozole initially. It was my G .p who changed it. 2 tablets less is good for me.

Thank you, im thinking of asking to go on this instead of the naproxine.

Works well for me the combination. Although Voltarol was more effective. Good luck.

I still need all my cocktail of meds, not on Cimza though but Humira and it works in keeping my inflammation under control. I started Naproxen in June as they stopped making Voltarol. My GP is ok with this as I have regular blood tests due to also taking mtx. I believe you have to be careful with Naproxen with regards to your kidneys. All the best. X

It's best to take what you are happy with and works for you. They all have their side effects, I believe naproxen is making me put on weight. Lol. With high blood pressure not a great deal of choice. Good luck. X
