Hi Lucy, I have a large nodule on my elbow and had another removed from my knuckle because it kept getting infected and was sore. It was taken out under local anaesthetic in the theatre. It was a bloodless procedure which means a tourniquet was put on my arm to stop the blood to my fingers. It took them 13 minutes and afterwards you have to keep the dressed wound dry for about a week.

The local anaesthetic was quite painful when they put it in and the tourniquet does start to hurt the longer it's on so the surgeon works fast. A nice nurse holds your other hand and talks to you all the while it's happening.

Nodules can grow back, mine didn't. And now I have new knuckles on that hand so they definitely won't grow back there ....I think! Lol

Hope this helps.

Love, Legs X

Mine went down with medication, ie Chinese herbal medicine, but conventional drugs should do the same. They might want to do an ultrasound on them first to see what they are.

I could not write for quite a long time - 9 months. I think you will be lucky to get them done on the NHS - they tried to tell me they could not see anything. I have a bump on my elbow but it is not bothering me, which is just as well, but it was very painful the day it came up.

Hi thanks for replying. There's no doubt about my nodules they are really big and have been told can get them removed if causing problems. Just wondered what the procedure was like.
