Did you have both knees done at same time? May I also ask approximate age. Need both done. Just git shots, need to get BMI down little mire BEFORE they will do it.

Yes. I had both hips done at together at the same time and three months later, both knees done together at the same time. I was 47 when I got them done .

Good luck with the operation. I'll be interested to read your diary because I'm positive my husband needs a new hip.

I kept a daily diary when I was being treated for Graves Disease (autoimmune overactive thyroid) and that was so useful. On days when I felt awful and that I'd made no progress I used to read through it and realise that little had made a huge amount of progress, it came in handy when going for hospital appointments and when I needed an increase in my thyroid drugs and it's been really useful for helping others in my thyroid group, so great idea. I can't wait to read it.

My father in law walked the West Highland Way after he had his hips done.

Best wishes for op.

Will be interested to hear how you get on as I am getting tkr at end of March. I believe mine will be slightly different as I have no knee cap (removed 34 yrs ago) & hence the structure is different however, pretty much the same procedure.

Good luck

Good luck with the operation and recuperation afterwards. The diary is a great idea. I wrote one after my tkr a few years ago and it proved very useful in reassuring another family member who had the same procedure recently as they were worried that their progress was too slow. It is very easy to forget the little milestones in the rehabilitation process.
