I would like to put my hands around the neck of the person who decided that I needed hay fever, eczema, allergies, anaphylaxis, IBS, trochanteric bursitis in both hips and RA. All I will say is that they wouldn't survive!
Today no mini bus from the car park, had to walk to the bus stop. I started first, but within 10 paces the others out stripped me. Took 5 minutes to get there. Then lunch time, meal break in Woking. Again had to walk 100 yards to local McDonald's, got the staff to bring the food across. Had to walk 100 yards back. Last bus was a ride back to Guildford, by then I had had enough and the stick came out. Had strange looks from the bus driver (a work colleague who didn't know that I had problems). Walked 75 yards back to my car, took several pauses.
Got home, hit the codeine. Had some toast. Now off to bed, up at 4:00, ready to paste the smile in place for another shift. Still only 2 to go before a week's leave.

Sometimes our pride has to take a hit and accept that you need extra help to get where we need to and of course we look 'normal' and don't necessarily want everybody to know we have problems. I hated having to use my scooter but it meant I could do more - fortunately for me a TKR and change of meds means I don't have to at the moment. Farm
Sorry to hear you had a difficult day jaquie I'm tired just reading about it.

Oh the stigma of the stick, i had that and hated it during the short time i had to use it, oh how i wish i had that mobility now!. The one that has always amused me given the stigma of the stick is the ones that carry one but dont need it, i see them striding along or standing talking waving it around like a conductors baton, it baffles me why anyone would carry a stick that doesnt have to, a fiend of mine had a shoe repair business and used to replace handles and ferrules on sticks, it always amused him that he would replace ferrules that rotted but no where near worn out and he said the same. Maybe some people regard it as a badge of age?, hit 60 and get a stick!.
