hi all, have seen the consultant today and he asked how I have been since Christmas, well it was all down hill, as I said I hurt all over and the tiredness is unbeleiveable and I said when I come in from work have to go to bed for 3 hours and then when its bedtime sleep another 7 hours and on my days off I sleep for 14 to 16 hours so all I do is sleep and work and be in pain.
So he said to go back onto 5mg steroids for 2 weeks and then 2.5 for a few months to see if it makes a difference. I asked if the tiredness would stop and he says yes, so will wait and see.
am hoping you are all doing good on this lovely sunny day and hope it continuous being this warm and sunny.
Thanks for listening.

I do find that I have a lot more energy when the steroids are put up and surprisingly, given what other people have said about their sleep being disturbed on steroids (the high feeling!) I usually sleep much better, but I think that is because I have less pain waking me up every time I move in the night. And perhaps because I am able to do more doing the day, so more physical tiredness rather than that awful dragging fatigue.
Oh that is terrible! You should not be living like that! Tell your gp to refer you to a rheumatology consultant. You need to see if it is RA. Steroids are not meant to be taken long term and they can be damaging to the body in many ways. I know from experience. They are meant as a sort term help. You don't say if you are on any other meds. You must be assertive and pushy. Again I know from my own experience. They would have been quite happy to let me live on steroids but when I refused then I got treated more seriously. Please don't accept this. I was going to say 'lying down' but I guess you do a lot of that already! Good luck Carol.
