Rheumy appointment

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well today. I have been to hospital to see the rheumy. I haven't met him before ,so it was lovely that he was so nice. I had a very thorough examination with a scan of my joints. Well, my joints didn't show any fluid when scanned ,even though on looking at them he could see that they were very swollen, also that I was in a lot of pain. So he started to doubt the other consultants diagnosis of RA . He wants to go right back to the beginning and wait until all Humeria is out of my system, and then start again, because nothing works Preds. DMARDS ,Naproxen Or Humeria works. I think it was because he couldn't see any synovial fluid and my CRP bloods are okay, which is why he doubted the RA? He said that I have some type of inflammatory arthritis but not sure what?

He did say that my last lot of bloods showed that I am anemic and that my white blood cell count is down,so more tablets for anemia. I have also had my thyroid function test done because my symptoms suggest under active thyroid. Fibro. was also mentioned. So a lot to take in today.i will be going back again in four weeks for a review.

After hospital I brought myself a colouring book and some pencils . I thought I would join the colouring craze .I can't believe how some books are very expensive. I got mine from the works.

Anyway that was my day.

Take care everyone.

Jane xx

I don't know if that's good or bad Jane??

Good they are looking deeply but I would be thinking well what is it then grrr!

When's your follow up?

Follow up in four weeks then I will have nothing left in my system,so if I am still swollen he will take it from there. When I take Preds. Or Naproxen nothing happens ,the pain is still the same. The consultant said that if I had RA then the Preds. or the Naproxen would take the swelling down. The fact that I am still in pain but there isn't any fluid in my joints makes him question the RA.

I haven't looked up Fibro. Do you know much about it?

Good night.

It is not correct that Preds and Naproxen always take the fluid down. I presume you mean Prednisolone. I am allergic to it and it made absolutely no difference to my symptoms but rather brought me out in urticaria. I had a mild bit of pain relief with Naproxen but it did not work after a couple of months. In fact, with both, swelling and disability was worse.

Jane welcome to the colouring club as it is so much fun. Look on amazon as you will find lots of colouring books on there for little cost. I also buy from the works as well. I use gel gliter pens as well instead of pencils as they are thicker and easier to hold.

I am glad the new rheumy has taken a good look at you and checking everything to get a proper diagnosis and he is having you back so quickly and lets hope the drugs are then out of your system and he can then find out what is wrong with you. Also whatever the diagnosis you mustn't leave us darling.xxxxx

Sounds like you have psa.

I had thyroid issues swelling and pain with no rash. Look into that and it's very hard to diagnose. I'm on methotrexate. Good luck.

Sorry Vivian,

What is PSA? I haven't heard of that?

Prostate-specific antigen, or PSA, is a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland. The PSA test measures the level of PSA in a man's blood. For this test, a blood sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results are usually reported as nanograms of PSA per milliliter (ng/mL) of blood.
